If you inspect the OP picture, you can see I have done that. It's a very smart idea.

Almost max'ing TH8, about half skull walls. What I did was delay a lot of upgrades and concentrated on my walls. About half are now skull. I didn't complete a ring, what I did was have "holes" of purple walls, hoping the overconfident Th9 thinks it's an easy breach and drops their giants to go for the purple wall.
I counted on most 9s are fairly simple minded. ( it's proven correct btw). They don't "see" the obvious. Going for the purple leads the Giants straight into a kill zone hell. I overlapped my mortar zones...so it's two mortars, a level 5 or 6 Tesla ( soon to be all level 6), at least one level 10 archer tower, a wiz tower, cannon (one...then another when they stop to take out the first one), bombs and traps.
I nail 10 or less without a core breach. More than 10 they usually get inside but not much further.
Those more skilled 9s see the trap...go through the skull walls and are inside before much can be done ( and the base is then toast).
Four three starred attacks the last 33. Lucky most 9s are simple minded and don't know the strategies of the game... Lol

I didn't catch the zombie reference. Apologies. I awoke this a.m. , logged on. Collecters and mines had 28,000 apiece (x's 6), the night attacker came at the base using 15 giants, 8 WB, 6 Wiz, 77 witch, 43 gobs and their AQ. Two healing spells and CC troops of barbs.

56%, two starred my base. Lost 8 trophies, 96k in elixer, 35k gold, 600 DE. They got nuthin' ... heh heh. I may have won but for two Teslas out of commission being brought to level 6. Sigh...
Best defense is having them volunteer to stand in front of the firing squad ... Lol
