Hog Riders are useless?

Hi, i´m a TH 8 and i recently attacked a TH 9 ..i did not make even 1 star..i used 34 hogs lvl 4, 1 dragon lvl 3, 10 archers lvl 5, 3 healing spells lvl 4..i took care cc troops, i did not found giant bombs..the hogs were good under the healing spell but when the healing spells got finished, they were killed like flies..i dont know what happened, they are useless now?

Maybe you could put a print of the last seconds of the attack? So we could imagine how the attack went?
Personally I doubt you couldn't reach 50% with that composition and against that base. He doesn't seem to have inside the base more than one space of 2x2(giant bomb) so there is no real excuse for the hogs to die that easily.
I am using 28 hogs (lvl 5), 72 arhcers (lvl 5) and 4 wall breakers (lvl 5) to attack (+4 healing spells lvl 4). I am sure I could do at least 50% to the base you showed with the composition you had, so if you have any way of showing the replay or at least the image of the last seconds of the attack that would be great.

Personally I take care of the clan castle first, then I go with the hog riders and clear out the defences as much as possible. Then I go with the wall breakers and jump in the base with my archers and my heroes.

I use some wallbreakers to make the job easier for the heros, because if I don't make an entrance for them, they will just go around the base and clear the outside buildings, instead of going inside and try to take down that town hall (earn at least the second star, if not all 3).

Your mistake is using L4 hogs on a town hall 1 level above you.

They simply don't have enough health to last against x-bows, archer queen and 4 wiz towers. And you only have 3 spells on top of that.

Hogs are better used at L5 and on TH7s or TH8s.

i believe the xbows are up and there is no AQ. I have seen lvl 4 work in this same manner, I do prefer lvl 5 wiz as apposed to a dragon as a clean up crew.

Off topic from the OP's attack issue, hogs are far from useless. In my clan'a last war I came close to 3 starring a TH 10 with hogs. The base I attacked was no preemie (had 2 lvl 2 ITs, high level all other defenses) I chose hogs because there were no holes inside for bombs and it had an exterior AQ to kill off.

Also, hogs have always been and still are useful for luring out CC troops.


Outside of war, I farm in C1 and use 6 hogs as a part of my standard farming comp.

Just giving examples of how they are still useful : )

Yep, not having a 4th healing spell along with central royalty and lvl 6 wiz towers make that base a little more difficult. Level 5 hogs with the same number of healing spells wouldn't have made much of a difference.

Oh, and to answer the original question about hogs being useless... definitely not. But don't expect them to carry you to a 1-2 star win on a TH of higher level - royalty placement, especially the queen, could the be the difference between getting stars and going home empty handed.
