I have been noticing lately that clash is slowly dying. Not as many people playing and people quitting. I join clans and they still have chats from a week ago and i think it started in the forum and moved out into the game. Or maybe its just me. Lots of my friends have started to quit the game who have been playing since the beginning. Maybe it just seems lonely.
It's a cycle. People go out, and there'll always be people who will come into the game to the goblin tutorial for the first time.
Oh, you have always found week old chats a lot. It's nothing new.
Inactivity is growing but its to be expected games only last so long
Clash + Dying is impossible. Everyone knows that.
Sorry to say. But I think you are right.
Seeing more towns with no Trophy Badge when I am looking for a raid. I think a lot of players are just logging on once a day...... Collecting resources, spending them if they can....Then logging off.
I believe the slippery slope started in December, this was the start of the loot change and more inactive bases being removed from possible towns you can raid. This made it more difficult for the casual players to progress.
Then clan wars was introduced. This caused more resources (pink and dark elixir) to be used for donations and war fighting. Some felt pressurised by an active war clan to fight so they left/booted from these clans. These players may have also lost the appeal to play and just either quit or just collect/spend every 24hrs.
Another reason could be since the introduction of the android platform, there has been less frequent updates with less content in them. Some are just getting bored just upgrading walls and heroes.
i hope SC turn round from their current game strategy and bring life back in to this once great game.
I would like to remind all that school just started and that the game is 2 years old
Last update was on july 2 I think, so don't expect much activity this days
It might very well be dying a slow death.
Especially with crappy updates like the last one that killed our heroes.
You used to see top players in the 4700-4800 trophy range, now they are down in the 4300 range.
It's sad when heavy gemmers can't even keep their pace.
Too many nerfed troops and defenses.
I spend more time on the forums now than on the game itself...
I logged in 3-5 times today just to collect and donate...
There are times where u just log on, collect frm collectors, say hi to ur clan members, donate some troops, do a 'fun' raid with weird troop comps just for the laugh and maybe pop a wall or two and log off. With nothing new added to the game the past few/many months, ppl get bored with the game rlly quickly.
Inactive bases are never removed from the game. They are only pushed back in the searching process.Quote:

You are noticing more dead bases because you are moving up.
I'm not sure what the statistical dead spot is but I bet the majority of casual players hit a certain spot in the game where they don't want to spend the time/money anymore and quit. So when you and I play and hit that certain spot, you will notice more dead bases.
I have been playing since September of 2012. I still try to log in every 12 hours tap my collectors and do an attack, time permitting.
I honestly don't get excited about the game like i used to. My clan is doing a push in September. I will likely push up to champ then take a break until a new TH level is introduced or just quit altogether.
Clash is a great game, but i think i will feel like there is nothing left for me to accomplish once i hit champ.

It may seem so, but in australia clash of clans is the biggest hit in school, in America i know it is school, but its like a cycle, 1 million players go inactive and 1 million go active again and fight to get trophies back, just watch the game is still alive
Because those updates were minor, a new character takes only 20 days to make, but as the game got bigger the crowd wanted more so the updates got bigger and harder to think of and integrateQuote:

Well, try to understand that as the playerbase grows SC has to be more careful when planning the future updates. Take the original loot system revamp (was it in 2012?) when they added loot penalties between higher and lower TH's. I don't quite remember how it was settled but the revamp caused a massive uproar, forums were absolutely flooded with complaints, threats and accusations towards Supercell and people had their money refunded by Apple to show that they weren't kidding.Quote:

At least if it does die SC will have to come up with a new game. I have faith in their developers.

And if that isn't the reason, it's because school is starting/already started for some and they have no time to play.
I would be happy because for the people who are still playing can pick off the inactives, easily getting a lot of loot (like me)
People have been talking on the dying for over a year now. Still we have to remember that no game in the history of gaming has lasted forever. Some board games have lasted a long time but when it comes to electronic games thay have a clear life cycle. Sometimes game platform evolution kills games, sometimes players simply find new and better games to play. How many of us play the games we played 5, 10, 15 or 25 years ago?Quote:

I've developed software for over a decade now and have never been part of an organization that operates this type of business without running a project schedule.
Maybe they don't want to 'disappoint' the user community by missing a date... who knows. They've been doing this for a couple of years now so they should have a solid estimation model based on past projects and releases.
Do they even have a release/project scoped? What's in the next release Supercell... if you guys don't even know this then yea... game is most likely going down the drain IMO.
I'm sure SC has a list of projects and timelines internally, but for a variety of reasons they choose to keep this information to themselves. It would be nice to have an idea of what they're working on, but I can see why they might be reluctant to share.Quote:

Yeah Clash isn't dying. Just because a percentage of people that represent a fraction of the Community feel this way, doesn't make it true. I feel like the game is getting stale, as does the clan I am in, but we still get on and war constantly and farm, which I'm sure half of you posers do. Complain about something, act like you will actually quit while knowing you won't.
Clash as a whole is not dying. Even if the whole forum of Clash quit, the people playing would barely be effected. The forum as a whole is probably not even 5% of all Clashers.
I'm in no way an advocate of SC. Loot sucks. No new troop or building in a year. Theoretically they made loot better. The problem is people dump their gold in walls before logging out. As of now, the only way to make loot better is to increase collector output and that was made evident during the boost week.
Clash has years left. How many depends on the content provided by Supercell.

Not saying clash is going to die any time soon...I still have loads of fun playing. BUT...I am not nearly a Max th10 twiddling my thumbs or a high champ raiding low champs for 1-3 cups every 1-2 hours (fun!). BUT with new content coming at the pace it is (slow and lazy. New level this, new level that, nerf this and that) and player/customer support being the worst of the worst and champions league being so broken.....I can't imagine why any significant number of players would remain active for say...the next 3-5 years. Daddy tried to explain how clans and players have adapted.....well my question is why hasn't Supercell been the one to adapt? When a game with as low a shelf life as this starts to obviously become so stagnant....why not turn your focus to those that are clearly willing to stick with you for the long hall...rather than continue this arrogant cash grab. Anyone who has been playing clash for any significant amount of time that says the last update was significant are just lying to themselves. I mean we have seen Infernos introduced, Dark troops, Heroes......and we are to jump at new tesla levels? New pekka level? Level 6 bombs? Hero and hog nerfs? Really? ok.
I am not rooting for the fall of SC or clash, because I truly enjoy this game. But when the day comes and clash is just a shell of itself and was just a game that once had enormous potential until it went corporate....I wonder if Softbank CEO will be sitting in his 100 foot yacht one day sipping a frozen margarita thinking to himself "if only I had given two ***** about the game, I could probably have 5 yachts." But then again, he will probably be too busy laughing at the irony that is the name of his yacht and how he paid for it. "The Gem Bug".
I was thinking the same thing. Almost all of my friends have quit, and the one that is left is a high level. I still love the game and play it, but many of my friend don't. And many people that I have raided are league less. I hate to say it, but Clash is dying, very slowly.
Thats why we need to do something! The forums must unite! We are the true Clash lovers, and we must do something about this matter of the game dying!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've experienced this before in the graphics community, it feels extremely lonely because all of my buddies from the past few years have quit and moved on and I have no connections, however the graphics community still thrives on YouTube.

Trophy system is broken- Massive trophy inflation, low TH over 3500 trophies, terrible clouds over 3800
Lack of new things & upgrades in the game- Almost five months since Clan Wars has come out and very little has been introduced since then, no new troop or defensive unit in about a year, since last update there is less incentive to upgrade heroes

Many top 200 players are comfortable sharing how much they spend, one man owns 6 top 200 accounts and has all of them pushing constantly. Seriously watch an interview, or realize that to gem all your troops at their level is like 10 to fifteen dollars just for one attack, most attack 200 times a season, not to mention gemming heros for defence and cc for defense, and losing attacks. Really it's crazy how much it costs to be in top 200. Chief pat did it when it was easier, and that was for US only lol. It's not wild if you think about itQuote:

Anyways, I can allude to what the OP is saying. I, for one, am one of those "log on twice a day to collect mines/pumps" kind of guys at this stage of the game. I'm about halfway through TH10 (besides walls and heroes) and I've been getting more and more inactive recently. I've been picking up new games and really, just focusing on school and my studies more than anything at this point. All I do is log on to collect mines and pumps, and cook war troops to donate and raid in the occasional war. That being said, I still support SC as I believe in them as a company and would thoroughly enjoy the game again if I didn't have so much on my plate.
