X Bows Up or Down?

Most of the posts advocating for up x-bows are doing it to protect against air attacks. When talking about drag attacks, air x-bows and archer towers have similar effectiveness since it takes so many shots to take down drags. Your point about wbs works no matter what the x-bows are set to, and I would argue that most people position their x-bows so that if one's following giants/golems around the base the other (or other two) will be able to pick up wbs. The question is really whether you're willing to give up over 235 SQUARE TILES of range to defend better against non-drag air attacks (mainly balloonion). For many, the answer is yes, for me, no.

My point was up bow is much superior to archer tower, and the argument against up bow simply due to the fact that upbow has similar range and dps to AT is a gross over simplification. I made no argument comparing up and down bow.

Also, since you brought it up, in the case of a wb, upbow with it's shorter range would be less susceptible to distractions from giants, and would actually have a higher probability to snipe wb trying to breach interior walls than a down bow with it's greater range. We're talking about different zones of coverage at this point.

Obviously xbows are better then archer towers, there is a reason why you unlock it later in the game, he is just trying to say what makes the xbow unique is its massive range when set to ground, which is unique in the game, compared to setting it to air which makes it lose its niche.

Which is perfectly fine, but too often up bow = AT gets tossed around on forums without any thoughts.
