When's the best time to work on walls?

Ok, so I'm currently an upper-middle level TH8. Some things maxed, some things not, walls definitely not. I came into TH8 with some purple and some lighter purple/pink walls and sat that way for a while so I've been pushing to get all purple and then at least get moving on bullets.

My question is what have you found to be the best strategy for working on walls. Do them right away when you upgraded THs, wait until the end after maxing D, do it here and there and in-between?

I was talking to someone who is moving to TH7 soon after maxing TH6 about wall building and when to work on upgrading them. My strategy obviously was flawed, so I was trying to offer them some advice and I thought it would be beneficial to start work on it right away.

Im getting mine upto 7, now that my splash is level 6

I like to farm so that I have enough extra gold for a few walls when a builder finishes a project. Like this:

- My builder finishes upgrading something
- I spend all extra gold on walls leaving enough for my next upgrade
- Then I start my next upgrade

It helps dampen the eventual farm that you'll need to do for walls. I'm also a mid-late TH8 and it turns out that I will be waiting on my lab long after all my defenses are maxed. So that's when I'll farm the rest of my skulls.

Pretty much the same path I do as well. Occasionally I'll leave one builder free for a couple of days when the others are doing long upgrades and hammer out walls. I think I'm around 15 skulls in and middle TH8.

Mhm just work on them as defenses upgrade because you don't wanna too many defenses down at one time. Also during trophy pushes I want to minimize defensive losses so as soon as I get the amount of gold to upgrade a wall I do it. The reason for this is to keep my resources as low as possible so people do not want to raid me.

cool, I just realized how much more there is in the lab to do at TH8 so I'll be able to do some skulls with that. I'm going to finish pushing through purple and then do skulls here and there.

I will upgrade walls when the builder is available. Often I will spend most of gold on walls before offline.

I keep enough gold for next defence upgrade and spend the rest on walls. If a builder becomes free while raiding, don't start upgrade until you've finished raiding so you can put the rest into walls and have nothing for attackers to steal :)

Between 1am and 6am ... No interruptions from the missus

Farm enough every day to do walls and upgrade stuff, after buildings are maxed you focus only on walls. Don't ignore defenses for walls, it looks stupid and really hurts your overall defense

for th7 & 8 I did one or two pieces before every upgrade and then a chunk of skulls once defences were maxed before moving up.

im applying the same thing to skulls at th9 now and so far, its going ok... although I think that this will change once the cheap/quicker upgrades are done.

So the best time and way to upgrade walls is right after you take care of expensive towers.

Hit the next TH then immediately hit wizard towers, ad, and mortars. Then while you are upgrading elixir based stuff (spells, lab, barracks, and army accounts) good time to upgrade walls.

THEN!!!!!! While doing At's, and cannons, which are generally cheap do walls at the same time. Easy peasy.

I farmed all skulls at th8 where the loot was easy..I did walls wen ever I had extra gold befor a longer upgrade

What I do with my walls is keep my builders busy constantly with upgrades, but if I have one free and the next upgrade finishes more than a day later, I'll keep it open and focus on walls and when the next upgrade finishes the next day, I'll get the last one busy too.

This is also my strategy. its best policy for TH7 and under IMO, just bang out a bunch while you go heavy on elix projects during the onset and early life of your new TH, when you are specifically hunting for elix anyway...to get troops and camps and what not done. not saying neglect the defense turrets, just make it a point to get the walls done while I max my splash and Tesla.

I have a rush strategy on my alt. and if I can bang out the walls while I max out my Splash Turrets; main offensive troops, and maybe Teslas and A/Def... then I can get on to the next TH (and Focus on the Splash towers and Teslas rinse repeat to skip through TH8 and get to TH9 with a lot of skull walls)

Then be pretty set for TH9 even though my turrets are lower levels, I can loot at a higher rate in TH9 with the stronger troops.. (see sharonsym's aka Yaw's thread or good rush strategy) Trust me people of similar or lower level who farm with Barch and no WBs will next you if you have good walls.

I am an almost fully maxed TH 8 with 4 builders. My original plan was to keep all my builders busy and do walls if I had excess gold like I had done at TH 7. However, even though I raided a lot, I rarely had enough excess gold to upgrade walls. Once I was almost done with defenses I realized that lab upgardes would take a few extra weeks.

So now I am done with defenses but still have lab upgrades and BK to do and have free builders. I leave my TH out surrounded by flags and every time I reach 650,000 gold I buy a new wall piece. Because I never have much gold, I am rarely attacked for loot. 20 out of last 21 attacks were snipes. Hopefully, lab and walls will finish at the same time.

I like to do the wall between upgrades or if you are about to go to a different th u can farm while the th is upgrading

Right now I'm a TH9 with all defenses maxed out working on my lvl 8 walls.

With my other builders, I keep them busy on traps, heroes, and elixir collectors.

Works well for me!

It's good to max defenses first, but honestly I'd probably do some in-between. Waiting until you're maxed defensively before you touch walls means one hell of a grind at the end (112.5 mil from full lvl 7's) and you will be likely sitting on max elix or close to it with all the excess going to waste as a late hall 8.

Granted, max elix is inevitable when working on walls usually (Barching/BAM) but if you can do some walls along the way it will help when you max out defensively.

I waited till after max defenses to farm full skulls. Was a long grueling process that almost burnt me out even with boosts.

Do them in-between upgrades. You can also save an idle builder for walls to act as a gold dump if you so choose which is not a bad idea. Makes you less of a target for TH9's which love to pick on juicy hall 8's.

I keep 4 builders busy with upgrades and leave the fifth one open for walls. I'm TH8 with 30 skulls left to do. Just finished maxing all defenses. Just have one more lv for BK and some traps/bombs, a barracks and last lv for collectors. This worked well for me you get a few days here and there where you can just focus on walls while waiting for a builder to free up for next defense dosnt feel like such a grind this way.

Keep a goal. My goal is to upgrade a building and have enough gold to upgrade 3 skullies.

This is what I usually do.....:

-Leave 1 builder free for wall and the rest for upgrade
-Plan your upgrade- surely by having 1 builder for wall will leave u with nothing in the gold storages. However to maintain the flow it is important to keep an eye on when the next builder will finish and save the gold for next upgrade.

I forget who posted it but the guideline of farming double the gold you need for your next upgrade, and then putting half of it into walls, really works well. I am over half skull walled at th8 and mostly I just get th sniped. Don't underestimate the intimidation value.

I have 4 builders, and i work on walls when im using 3 of the builders because If i have 3 builders busy already, then I don't wan to use my fourth, (unless for walls) and i dont want to keep Gold as i'll just loose in in defense attacks so I spend it all on walls. Seems to work fine for me, I have 83 Skulls from doing this and they cost 500k each ;/

The best time to work on walls..... is all the time!
