I think the majority are seeing the bigger picture

The majority of clans are poorly managed and do not have great (95%+) participation. Of course the majority want an Opt In/Out Button, it would solve a huge problem for them. They wouldn't have to worry about putting in the time and effort to communicate, recruit and work with their clanmates to get good participation. Nor would they have to coach their players about when/how to leave the clan when they are not ready to be a good teammate for whatever excuse, legitimate or not.
So, yes, Opt In/Out is popular, but that does not mean it is good for the game. Nor does it mean it is fair. The clans who have good management and good participation should have the advantage they have earned for themselves.
Taking that away by adding this button would be like adding an Optimized Auto-Deploy button. Then even people who haven't put in the time or effort with their troops would be able to 3-star bases. I'll bet that would be popular as well. But then people might need an Auto-Que Optimal Army Composition Button too. That'd probably be popular as well.
Most of the time, what the majority want should be taken into consideration. But there are other times when those with the sense to see the big picture should protect what is fair and right. This is one of those times. Imo, just saying, and all such disclaimers. :)
We will continue to kick and invite regardless of an opt in/out button. We are a solid war clan and do this every war. Even with an opt in/out button the amount of communication before a war will still be required.
Stating that the majority are the only ones with some sense to see the bigger picture is a flaming comment. This has been widely discussed and debated for a long time now and the majority still want it. I think you will find that the majority are well organised war clans who already kick before war (thats why they want a feature likes this.. derp). Disorganised clans, will remain disorganized as it relates to their leadership. They will still have poor communication and inactive members who don't communicate or change their OPT in/out war status...
However, I think the idea needs to be refined to provide what will fit all concerns. Personally I am not a huge fan of individual member OPT in/out as it removes some of my control as leader AND I understand that some people feel it could be exploited some how (I doubt it can be exploited but that's my opinion). At the end of the day even a strong clan that opts out the top players will still only be matched against a weak clan as the war match up system matches up based on who is in the war, not the total players in the clan!. And clans always donate the weaker players good troops anyway.
As I said, not a huge fan of individual opt in/out as it will be a challenge to manage. I would just like to be able to personally select who is not going to war after all the communication and then declare war... At the end of the day all good war clans will remove players who cannot attack in the war for whatever reason. It is not an abuse of power, it just what we do as leaders. Adding this option (not an opt in/out button but a leaders member war toggle for want of a better term) will just make it easier. No big deal and I think this is what all the well organised clans are after.
A simple way to remove non war participants before war is declared, so that Johnnies donation stats are not affected while he climbs the alps this weekend (or whatever) and the clans HUGE trophy score remains the same.
As I said, regardless we will still just kick and invite before war. I think this whole shebang has been blown out of proportion by some forum nazzis to be honest. Oh, and a few clans who are to scared to face tougher opponents maybe. In a true democracy the majority vote wins. End of story.
Lets just get down to how and what system would work best. I'm all for a leader ability to select who wars without having to kick and invite.
