FYI: An apparently extremely good TH7 base for wars

I didn't design this, this isn't my base, its the war base of a guy in my clan. Its been amazingly successful, although a quick look at it doesn't really give any reason as to why, it doesn't appear all that clever.

But it has been attacked 12 times in the last 3 wars, with the following results:

War 1: This clan was tough

9 lvl 1 drag, 1 lvl 2 drag, 1 lightning, 1 heal = 71% 1 star
7 lvl 2 drag, 20 lvl 4 wiz, 2 rage = 52% 1 star
81 lvl 5 archers, 10 lvl 5 wiz, BK, healer, 2 rage, 1 heal = 32% 0 star
16 lvl 4 giants, 2 wbs, BK, 2 lightning = 4% attack quit after giants gone

War 2: this clan was extremely good, always lured/killed, had a powerhouse TH10 donating huge troops to the lower level players.

20 lvl 4 archers, 4 lvl 5 hogs, 20 lvl 4 giants, 5 wbs, 3 lvl 2 drag, BK, 3 heals = 78% 1 star
60 lvl 3 archers, 12 lvl 3 giants, 3 healers, 4 barbs, 12 wbs, 4 lvl 5 hogs, BK, 3 heals = 80% one star
5 lvl 5 hogs, 192 lvl 5 archers, 4 wbs, BK, lightning = 64% 1 star
12 lvl 4 archers, 14 lvl 4 giantss, 11 lvl 4 wiz, 3 wbs, 2 heal, BK, 3 drag, 2 rage, 1 heal = 86% 2 star
4 lvl 5 hogs, 2 healers, 10 lvl 4 giants, 73 lvl 4 archers, 6 wbs, 8 lvl 4 wiz, 2 heals = 80% 1 star

War 3: this clan was less effective than the others

12 lvl 4 giants, 24 lvl 4 arch, 4 wbs, 10 lvl 4 wiz, lightning = 20% 0 star
7 lvl 3 giants, 3 drag, 14 lvl 4 wiz, 2 wbs, 3 arch, 8 barbs heal, lightning, rage = 18%
14 lvl4 giants, 19 lvl 4 wiz, 12 barbs, 2 healers, 10 arch, 2 heal, 1 rage = 48% no stars

We don't know where it came from, he was offline when I asked, but he's been around for at least a dozen wars and hasn't suffered a 3 star that anybody can remember.

Thats whats amazing about it. He doesn't have one. And he has one lvl 1 archer tower, a lvl 1 wiz tower, there's nothing optimized or upgraded about his base. Nothing.

Yet it never dies. Which is why we think its interesting and why I posted it here.

Some of you geniuses must be able to build on that and with all the towers and upgrades come up with something epic for a TH7...

Interesting that it has done so well because it seems like there is nothing special about the base. King off to the side, bad junctions, low level walls, etc.

Still, you have been against (apparently) pretty bad clans. The lack of dragons and hogs lead me to this conclusion. I honestly would have kicked most of those clan members for using weak armies like that over and over again and were in my clan.

um... several attacks listed above had dragons, two were mass dragons, several had hogs. :)

And we have far more upgraded TH7s, but none that really survives better than this one.

3 lightning spells to take out one air defense, deploy 10 dragons, plus one in the clan castle closest to last air defense = unstoppable three star, even if the base is maxed.

If they were any good, they would have used 3 lighting spells, not 1. One lighting spell is really useless for a mass dragon raid. Heal spell doesn't work well on dragon. For both of these attacks, why were only 2 spells used? Th7 has 3 spells ... I'm thinking this clan was kind of nooby. Also, didn't their Th7's have BK as support?

That's pretty surprising... This seems like a pretty average base. Luck?

9 lvl 2 drags, 2 rage, 1 heal + whatever else = 1 star. And this was a mass dragon clan that was good at it, better than any other mass dragon clan we've faced.

I have no idea why this thing works so well, there is no reason that I can divine that it should.

Edit: it finally went down... to 10 level 3 dragons, 3 heals, and some archers. One dragon was left at the end almost dead.

Combination of bad players and bad attacks, not deploying in good spots and/or using spells effectively. Seems to be an ok base, pretty average. There's not some underlying magical layout about it that's causing it to be as resilient as it seems. Just bad attacks/players.

it's an avg base . none of those ADs ain't protected well enough. if i have to beat this i would just drop 3 lightning on one AD and drop 2 drags to break d outer ring and drop rest of the drag so they will go straight for the core . even a lvl 5 AD cant stop it .. it's just u guys didn't face a real war clan yet

Not to burst your bubble or anything, but you don't mention any mass hog attacks. This is actually a really good base to attack using hogs... no open spaces for double bombs - 2 for single bombs, but a smart hog attacker will spread their hogs out across the bottom of the base to avoid them grouping up in the initial attack in that area where the spring traps and teslas are.

And I'm talking about lvl 1 and 2 hogs (available at th7). A TH8 with lvl 3 hogs that can withstand a single giant bomb without insta-dying has a simpler chance.

Having said this, you might want to suggest adding both giant bombs inside the walls of the base.

Hammer, its a low/mid TH7, I don't think anybody is going to waste 100++ DE mass hogging it. But you're right it'd be cake for a mass of hogs.

I'm curious as to why it has done so remarkably well, and I'm asking if anybody has an idea as to why, I don't get all this "its a bad attacker" stuff. 10 level 3 dragons and 3 spells with a proper lure/kill of the castle is a "bad" attack. Thats what it took to, barely, 3 star that thing. What happens to dragons is they typically take out one air-D, but then circle the town hall, for whatever reason they go around and not to the center.

I'll let it be, but folks, before replying taking a moment to consider what the thread was about might not hurt.

7 drags and 20 wiz is a sad attack. 10 drags is normal but only 2 spells and 1 was a lightning spell. Conclusion: Both attacks were from noobs.

Many attacks had hogs which I assume were from the CC. None were mass hogs which would surely wipe the base.


Let me clarify: There aren't any intelligent dragon attacks and mass hogs. I don't see them. The only reason the base stands is because the attackers suck. Seriously, place this base against my clan and I will start kicking people who can't 3 star it. I'm that confident that drags will 3 star it. And don't tell me about dragons circling the base or whatever. That is just more evidence that the attackers were bad.

Just because they take the time to lure a CC or use mass dragons doesn't mean it can't be a bad attacker. And those dragons circle-jerking the base is due to poor placement, and/or not using 20 slots for a handful of wizards/archers to clear a path through outside buildings so the dragons can go directly to the core. Not to mention the one with a single lightning, which is a waste. Mass dragons are much better off with rage spells, in my opinion, especially for a base like this.

So yeah, bad attackers. I definitely considered what this thread was for, and I answered your question the way I saw fit. That is the only logical conclusion based on the information you've provided. Bad attackers.

I agree that during normal war, noone is going to waste the DE, but I thought we were talking about clan wars here... This is the one (or maybe 2) times where people will spend outrageous amounts of elixer/dark elixer to build a HUGE army and get as many stars as possible.

So I do believe hogs against this base is the best choice for getting 3 stars.

I believe the reason why dragons just circle the base (if all dropped in one group) is due to the spacing between items. Dragons (as you know) attack the nearest item to them... and the way the base is laid out, the dragon will continue to the next nearest item which typically is around the outside circle.

The fact that you have your air defense almost maxed along with placement inside 2 layers of walls makes it very difficult for an attacker to take them out with 2-3 dragons. The typical th7/8 attacker has 220 troops including cc.. .so max 11 dragons. As well, maybe 3-4 spells. So if you consider taking out a single air defense will take 5-6 dragons with a focused attack along one side of the base including 2 rage spells, there really isn't enough dragons left to do this on both sides of the base ... hence why you don't get 3 star'd against dragon attacks.

In your list, the majority of your attacks are giant based. And in order to be successful with giants, heals aren't necessarily the way to go - especially if you want 3 stars. The giants are too slow to and although you don't list wallbreakers in the attacking list, my guess is that people aren't bringing enough to assist the giants in breaking through walls (slowing them down even more). To get 3 stars with a giant attack, people need to speed them up by using rage, especially near splash damage... but again, your splash damage is inside 2 walls giving them lots of time to reign down tonnes of damage before they get taken out.

So even though you may think the base is relatively simple, you have all the pieces to put up a successful defense against most attack types. The only exception is the use of giant bombs inside the walls - hence my original point of attacking with hogs.

Do people not know how to attack with dragons anymore?? Who expects to send 2-3 dragons on a side and be able to take out an air defense against any decent base? 3-4 spells? I would actually ban any th 9 from my clan if they couldn't 3 star this base with a farming army. Even barch.

Here is the very, very simple attack strategy that my 8 year old cousin could use: 3 lightnings on top air defense. Deploy a dragon near the leftmost elixir collector. Deploy dragon at leftmost builder hut. Deploy like 6 dragons at the army camp. If they don't path to air defense, deploy another. If they still don't, deploy another. 100% guarantee that the base will be 3 starred.

P.S. I mentioned the "2-3 dragon on one side" thing because of attacks I've watched where people try and split the dragons on each side of the base in order to take out air defense that's sitting on the sides. This method doesn't work the way this base is setup.

Can you not read? It has nothing to do with me personally being able to 3 star the base (which, obviously, I can). Anyone with half a brain could. Just follow a basic strategy. Never did I say I was the only one in the world intelligent enough to use dragons from a side after using lightning on the top air defense.

I'm condescending because the vast majority are indeed awful at the game...including you apparently.

Show me any of the dragon attack replays on this base. I will point out the flaws and tell you why they failed.

Thats my question entirely: why do so many people fail to 3 star this guy? It took 10 lvl 3 drags + whatever and ONE of the drags was left at the end. Against a clan that put up 40 stars against us in a 15 player war. And we aren't that bad, we have 48 wins.

And to all, again, THIS ISN'T MY BASE, i'm just fascinated by its defensive success and I wish I understood exactly why its so successful.

I can 3 star that with goblins.

Maybe because it has low cumulative defense points due to missing buildings. It's ranked low in clan war numbering, so it attracts the worse players of the other clan.

But the one guy that 3 starred it was some clans #2. With 10 lvl 3 drags + spells etc.

Something good is happening with that thing, despite its noob-looking nature. I wish I understood what it was.

Since you're not willing to acknowledge some of the reasonable explanations in this thread as a possibility, instead opting for unexplainable magic behind the layout, let's just settle on the Easter bunny as the base's great protector.
