It would be cool if there was a base contest. It would be for th7, 8, and 9. The catergories would be farming layouts, hybrid layouts, and trophy layouts. Then the best layouts would be put out for everyone to see. It would be so much more easier to be able to pick the best base suited for your needs instead of searching all over the layout thread.

Here are my opinions on some of the current topics.
1. Trophy Hunting
While the hybrid version is fairly sufficient, some are expecting a bit much from it, especially ones who are analyzing it from a TH9 point of view.
a. TH8 v. TH9
It is a fact that a decent TH9 attack can devastate a TH8, maxed/well-designed or not. Without the X-Bows, the Archer Queens' long range can usually 1-star a base with ease. Here's an old replay demonstrating the mentioned point.
All of the reported 2000+ losses so far have been from formidable TH9 armies, such as ones in nyo11's screenshots.
b. Defensive Trophy Hunting
Upon reaching a proper trophy-hunting range such as 1800+, trophies are often earned offensively, and not defensively. Top players' needs for cheap shields and extensive online periods are the prime proofs. This is especially true for TH8 players, when defending against capable TH9 armies. Therefore, the measurement of designs' effectiveness via. trophy count is usually inaccurate.
c. Hybrid Trophy Hunting
A trophy oriented design might have had a much better chance at defending against non-farming armies such as ones in nyo11's screenshots. I am genuinely interested to see other TH8 hybrid designs' replay logs at a similar range.
2. Trap Placement
A few have concluded that my designs often rely on trap usage.
a. Agreed. I have always favored trick plays. In my opinion, any decent attack that goes as planned will beat the most brute defenses. I view traps as extra volleys that your defenses don't have to fire. They should be treated as strategically as any other defensive buildings.
b. Disagreed. I do not agree with the extreme notion that these designs are heavily dependent on traps. The effectiveness of the trap placement seem to have created a false need for these traps when they are not present. One can effectively use the same logic to claim that a design with a Centralized CC is heavily dependent on CC troops v. an offset/empty CC.

What's the point of using a layout where u are losing an average of 100k resource per raid in average.
