Unless your real high in trophies, there is no point.
All it really is doing is giving more of an incentive to 3 star. Sure you get lucky and some scrub will fail at raiding your base but honestly if I push I would just take a one star than waste troops and elixir.
Just my thoughts even though they don't mean anything.:rolleyes:

I only put my TH inside when I have no Gold/DE, and also, since when I have my TH out, I get attacked within minutes only to have the shield broken 10 minutes later. I also keep my TH inside so I don't lose my trophies (so I don't have to snipe to get back up in my range).
Maybe you just want to Move up trophies quickly?
Unless you are trying to get gems for Masters / Champion I find it quite pointless. Trophy pushing just gives you too much grief. No idea how many players try stay up the top for months on end. They must like punishing themselves.
So much effort for so little reward IMO.
I keep my TH inside a lot, it tells me how good my layout and base actually is. How high can I get with defense, what flaws do I have in my layout. What's the point in upgrading your base if you're never going to use it?
That being said, without a maxed base in a high league there isn't really other reason for keeping TH inside besides scientific interest
