Why Max Out?

There are several reasons to max out. Foremost among them ties into the loot penalty. TH9's cant attack you at TH7 because the loot penalty is too great, they just won't get much loot. But when they see a th8 with the defenses of a th6, they go all giddy with joy. And, not only this, but it takes even Longer to max out th8, especially since almost everything can be upgraded twice. Troop upgrades and the other perks of th8 arent worth going up before maxing. Trust me ;)

Dude the "Max everything" rule is for only those who live off those lvl 11 collectors and those who are in a very serious War clan . if u can bring 2 m loot in an hour then loosing 300k wont hurt you much , i rushed to TH7 as fast as i can, i only maxed my farming troops and camps,had no problem with loot. I had lvl 1 AD when i stepped to TH7 but then i joined a War clan and got crushed by a TH6 and realized the fact why "Max everything" and why not.

I'd disagree with maxing everything especially if the grind isn't fun and your stages are full. I had no more DE/elixir upgrades (except for the lab) at TH8 so I went up to 9.

While looting does get harder in general as you go up in TH, the different between attacks wasn't big for me when I went up from TH7 to 8 since most of my loot came from TH7/8 when I was TH7 anyways. Defense was harder though I think because people used Lv5 wizards and Lv6 giants more often

Basically all you need is maxed offensive things and have your main troops upgraded if you're active in my opinion since you can easily earn back what you lose... unless the economy is bad

Maxing walls starting at TH8 might be a bit tedious though and isn't something that people who can't play more than an hour a day should do unless they're find with staying at TH8 for months and letting their DE/elixir get filled and stolen

It's not too adviseable to max every single things on each TH stage imo, but if u want to go to TH8, make sure at least
- have all lev6 walls
- Maxed Splash Defenses for TH7
- All Cannon/AT level 7
- Have BK ( optional )
- Maxed TH7 Farming troops..

just it, then you should be fine when you hit TH8.

I just had a quick chat with one of my clan mates late during prep day. He's a town hall level 6. He's already talking about upgrading to 7. We were discussing attack strategies ...

Me: do you have healers, already?
Him: in about 24 hours
Me: that's good enough - leaves you 2 hours for your attacks
Me: you can prepare your healing spells, giants and wizards in advance for the first attack ...
Him: I have wizards only when that barrack is done ...
Me: facepalm

It's none of my business if you go to the next TH level early, but I'm absolutely sure you will do yourself a big favor, if you always max all of your barracks and your army camps ...

Just upgrade, it will be a lot more fun with new stuff. Also lvl 5 troops are a really big step up. If you play a lot a little rushing wont hurt you much.

I rushed to TH 8 with TH 5-6 defense. Didn't get a lot of loot for the first few weeks, now I'm almost maxed. (Not including Teslas and ADs.)

Do not upgrade to TH 8 with gold walls. They got one shotted by level 5 WBs - you're going to get picked often.

Stay at TH7 and max. You get to feast on TH6s. If you go to TH8, TH7 won't be as easy to a TH8 compared to TH6 to a TH7. When I was Th7, 800 trophies was the sweet spot. Easy 200k/200k raids. Don't worry about upgrading the burger king until TH8. If you don't have the burger king yet, throw down $4.99 and get it.
