One of my billionaire gg friends has lvl 9 gold mines. I ask why he doesnt upgrade them and he wont tell me why. But its not cos of the upgrade 1 gem boost glitch. Anyone else know anything about this?

Nope, the same amount. I think its about 50 or 75% available to be stolen, not too sure- you can visit the CoC wiki for some statistics.
The only thing that affects matchmaking is trophies.
It's 50% on collectors and pumps, 75% on drillsQuote:
