Fixes for Clan Wars (Idea)

Anyone who is leader of a war clan will likely enjoy these ideas.

1: Once included in a clan war, you can not leave the clan. In fact there is NO option to do so (Unless Kicked) until Either the war ends, or both attacks are used on battle day. (Idea #1 Revoked/Bad idea)

2: If neither attacks are used on battle day, the offending player is hit with a Cool-down and cannot be included in War, in the clan or any other, until the cool-down is over. Each time the Player does not participate in the War he/she is included in, the Cool-Down increases.

3: Leaders(Co) can toggle the Sword n Shield symbol, essentially choosing who is included in the War about to be searched.

This needs to happen. Too many times have people Abandoned a war, often on prep-day, and even on battle day. Some of them do it BECAUSE it upsets the other members. It's almost a new form of Hopping/Trolling. It leaves Gaps in our War efforts, and often causes Losses. Players should be punished for doing it. And it is obvious the Current Cool-down (Preventing player from being in war until current war ends) worries these people not 1 bit. So since the current "Punishment" seems to have 0 effect, a Harsher one should be put into place.

No no no no no, a lot of clans aren't organized with war and some co may start it whenever. What if YOU weren't ready and didn't know and happened to not be on during that time now you get screwed. or you told a co or leader that you weren't on and they forgot to boot you before or you forgot to leave. Now youre out of the clan!

Honestly there are SO many in clan ways to fix war participation, nothing needs to be added. You already have leadership in clans, use it.

My Co-leaders start wars all the time without me knowing. We have won 34 wars, and lost just as many if not more. out of all of those wars, I have never missed a single attack. That's while going to college, work and many other things that make me very busy. Yet I still attack, both times, every time.

I kick people all the time for not participating. They then join other clans and do the same. It doesn't solve anything. The only way to stop people from abandoning wars is to make it a very very bad idea. These hoppers join, knowing its a war clan. I've had them leave or not attack to purposely Troll me and my members. I've had enough. If they frequently abandon wars or don't attack, There should be a punishment, or at the very least a record on their profile so I can know who I'm dealing with before hand. Kicking people after the fact does not fix the issue. More hoppers join, and it happens all over again. you end up with a 20 town war and your down 5 people before prep day even ends? That isn't right. It isn't fair for me or my members. If people don't want to be included in War, why join a war clan just to quit mid war? To Troll and upset people. And they should be penalized for it, severely.

But TH sniping and throw away attacks are better then Abandoners and no attacks. If someone joins a War Clan, then they should be ready for war. IDK about Iphones but my android alerts me Every time a War begins, Prep-day is about to end, battle day begins, and B-day ends. With all that, there is no excuse.

I have always liked the idea of penalizing players who bail after prep day starts. However, the glaring fault in this suggestion is that if someone was going to bail already, they likely don't want to participate and help your clan win, so even if they are forced to stay, it doesn't guarantee that they will fight for stars, and may even be bitter and sabotage your war effort. My clan had this little tool (TylerNichols or something like that so watch out for him) who came into the clan the day before a war and as soon as the war started wrote an obscene remark on the clan wall right before purposefully losing both his attacks and bailing. I guess he thought that was hilarious. In my opinion, this could be great if it weren't for this hole in the logic.

I'm not really a hopper so I'm not sure why people would need to hop around but some people might invite people to their clan on global and trap them in by starting the war search. Even if they leave, they'll still be part of the participants in the war so they'll probably be prevented from leaving even though a match hasn't been found yet. Other people like to move freely between clans they know so this also traps them for at least 24 hours and more for the 2nd batch of troops to be trained for war.

Also it's demoralizing if you have like 5 people not wanting to stay so they TH snipe #1 for easy loot and leave the rest of the players to carry the weight

It seems like you cant fix any problem without bringing about another. I am a leader of a clan that has won 5 wars an lost about 100, we are a well established clan but for some reason we have so many problems with people not attacking, and when I kick them, more non-attackers join back. I dont think this would solve the problem unfortunately :(

In that situation there isn't much you can do to a troll like that but kick him. The logic in the idea being implemented is it will reduce Abandoners. There is no way to make a troll like that behave. But for alot of the other standard hoppers, they might think twice about joining a war clan just to quit. and if they do, the Cool-down show that the player didn't attack at all, and will show other clans this person cannot be trusted. Perhaps not letting them leave at all may not be the best idea, but they should at least be "Marked", kind of like they are now. If a player joins and has more then 24 hours on his/her cooldown, I know they left their last clan on prep day, so I kick them immediately. But AFTER a certain amount of time there is NO way to see if the player is trustworthy. Now I kick anyone with a cool-down who joins. I just don't trust them.

Agreed. There should be a label that acts as a deterrent as well as cool-down type penalties. But I will always believe that forcing players to stay in a clan after the war starts would rarely help.

Yeah, #1 probably wouldn't work, and as someone said above it has too much potential for abuse.

What if the player had a legitimate reason they couldn't use either attack? It should be up to the leader as to how to deal with this.

I agree about the wording, too bad I can't edit it. As to what you said about #2, #3 solves that issue. I have my members let me know if they can't attack, then I remove them from being included without them having to leave or drop trophies to the "Bench".

Sometimes you wanna visit a friend in a clan or want to go to a feeder clan to scout or fight in wars.

I think people needs to consider why a person would leave during war. For whatever reason it may be, this person obviously isn't interested in participating in a war, so any fir of punishment involving cooldown exclusions from war isn't going to bother them that much. Think about it, if a person wanted to really annoy a clan during war, there'd be much better ways of doing it than just leaving. While I stay in the clan, I and only I have control over my war baes design, clan castle troops (thru dumping), and if, when, or how I attack. Ultimately, having people like this simply leave is the best possible outcome for the clan.
Leader control over who participates in wars is a good solution to this problem and would be good if it were only used in these circumstances. However, what you're effectively doing is giving leaders the ability to exclude or include members for whatever reason they see fit. In clans that are well-led, I don't think it'd be an issue, but probably those clans are not really having too many problems now anyway.

Easiest way to stop hopping / abandoning. ... If you leave a clan after war declaration, you immediately become REVENGE eligible for the entire clan you left

then they can extract their revenge at their leisure

There should be something in player profile showing number of clans left, regardless of during war or not

before long, players who have been in more than 10 or so clans would not be invited

So you are punished for leaving a clan you don't like?

Bad, bad idea.

Just a record of how many clans a person has been in on their profile would stop a lot of the problems with hoppers. A cool down for 2 days before you can join another clan if you leave a clan, but not if your kicked out would help too.

So if your clan is part of a family of clans (as many clans are) or if you are part of a feeder clan, you would have to wait 2 days before you could move from one clan to another. Not everyone who moves from one clan to another regularly is a hopper or doing something malicious. Why should everyone's movement between clans be restricted or penalised because of a few kids who like to jump around.

Our clan was struggling with war too as not everyone wants to war at the same time. Without an opt out option we tried many things and all really failed. Its actually the reason I joined the forum and after reading many things I came up with a solution that is still in its infancy but has made people in the clan very happy so far. Here it is...

I started up a second , with my first I started a new clan and my second account stays here to babysitt it. I then advertised to the clan asking who wanted to war. Once we knew who wanted too we arranged atime and date to war. Everyone joined at the same time kicked my second acc and declared war asap. As soon as war ended my second acc came back and we went back to our clan. This gave the people who wanted to war a real war exp, everyone who was there was there to war so we finally had 100% participation. We were only away from the clan for the 48 hours of the war, some were even back sooner as they went back straight after their second raid as this does not affect any loot you win. It gives flexibillity for individuals as you can pick and choose when too war.

O.K this is still new for us as this plan has only just been hatched and we have only done 1 war but it worked. We won the war and everyone who participated loved it. Now other members are wanting to join in too. One rule we have decided on is 15 participants max per war. This is to make sure our clanmates dont feel abondoned plus we feel you get a more even war match. I also recommend u use a app like line to help co-ordinate things.

These are excellent ideas! Locking a player in a clan once a war starts is a great idea! Or the cool-down if they don't participate but that might not work as well since many of the people that don't war are not interesting in participating in the first place.

I want the leadership to also be able to choose who goes to war. All the excuses that it will be abused do not hold water. So what if a few clans abuse it and select their best or worst! They will get matched with other clans doing the same thing! We already have a war format that favors the BEST on our teams.

We also already have the same feature and it is called kicking people. Its just a rude and crude way to do it. As a leader I can at this very day and time select exactly who I want to go to war by just kicking people out. Giving me the ability to do that without kicking would be a welcome addition.

I would even be willing to start with a feature that just allowed the players themselves to opt out of war. If a player is active at all, you should be able to get them to opt out. If they are not active at all then the leader can opt them out by kicking.

My thing is in my clan I have some people that are just not interested in war, or they are busy a particular weekend, or whatever and they just don't want to do it. While some other people in my clan would like to war a little more often every now and then. I would LOVE the ability to sit out the ones that do not want to war while letting those that want to war a little more often that opportunity.
