How Does "Find a Match: Actually work

Just Wanted to know some more info on the The matching system.

According to the internal help and support (Direct quote)
"Player vs player matchmaking is based solely on the amount of trophies you have. Because of this it is possible to be attacked by a much higher or lower level player, if they have close to the same amount of trophies you have."


Now From what ive seen this just isnt true. It first got me wondering when i hit th8. The Range i used to farm in was rich and plentiful, but the moment i hit th8 there was now nothing. I thought it must have been just dum luck and kept looking. i went from farming 2mil gold a day at th7 to barly getting 500k at the same range id been sitting at for 2 weeks, the only difference was my town hall lvl?

I then decided to do some testing by dropping my trophies down to 700 and do some hour log off/ons to see if i could get attacked. I was Attacked twice during my testing, Once by 941 trophy player while i was at 712 and by another at 694 by a 821 trophy player. Even while i was searching at the 700 range , all i could find waS VERY low lvl players, even though i know a few of my th9 clan mates where hiding in that range.

My Question is, Why Is there such a huge gap in trophies by players attacking me at that range when it states that i should only be able to find and be found by players very near my own trophy limit?

Has the system been changed at all? is that outdated info? Does the system change depending on town hall levels?

you are experiencing the loot panelties, as th7 u would have farmed upon th6 but as u hit th8 you only get 50% of th 6s and I suggest you move to 1200-1500 trophies to farm :D

Cause 941-712 = 229 (That Really isnt close trophy count)

Maybe by the time u checked his trophy count he already won a few more battles and hence his trophy is much more than you.

You can't really know the amount of trophy he had when he attacked you unless u log on right after he attacks and check.

Also, it could be a revenge attack.

These figures are BEFORE the multiplier is applied. The multiplier is what is behind the loot "penalty" and the loot "bonus". The amount of AVAILABLE loot= calculated loot x multiplier. The multiplier is determined as follows:
5% for attacking someine with a TH 4+ levels lower than the attackers.
25% for attacking someone with a TH 3 levels lower than the attackers.
50% for attacking someone with a TH 2 levels lower than the attackers.
90% for attacking someone with a TH 1 level lower than the attackers.
100% for attacking someone with a TH level equivalent to the attackers.
110% for attacking someone with a TH 1 level higher than the attackers.
150% for attacking someone with a TH 2 levels higher than the attackers.
200% for attacking someone with a TH 3+ levels higher than the attackers.
Maximum loot after the multiplier is applied is [(200%) x (198k + 6 x 75k)]+1k = 1.297 million of either gold or elixir. This is almost impossible for someone to actually raid, though.

The comprehensive foruma for finding available loot is: (multiplier percentage) x [(25% x storage amount, capped at 198k) +(50% x mine/collector amount) + 1k]=loot
NOTE: The 1k that the TH stores is subject to the PENALTY, but not the BONUS, as 1k is the most it can ever store.

In the interview video of jorge yao, he says that he is able to attack players that are within 650 trophy difference. Now for him, that means he can only attack 40-50 different players at anytime...so it is safe to assume that you can expect anyone 650 trophies above or below you to be able to attack you. Of course that is only if what jorge yao is saying is true..which I doubt he is lying, maybe wrong, but not lying. Also, I would probably assume that the game will purposely find you an opponent that is much closer to you than 650 trophies, but I would think it is possible if you search enough.

Firstly, when somebody attacks, their current medal count is recorded, he had attacked me roughly ten mins after logging in.

Also i was under the impression that you couldnt revenge a revenge attack, hence why some appear as only a reply even if they had won the attack.

I understand that for him, since hes at the top, the system would have a smaller pool of players to choose from, ie shields,online ect. But for the rest of us , accourding to the amound of players playing, or inactive, we should have a much larger pool to choose from , mucch much close to our current trophys, which makes me think that the search is more losely based then what they say it is. Id love an offical comment on the actually differnce.

Id say its not like that. The possible maximum range is probably infinite because if only two players played the game and one was 800 trophies and one 3496 they could attack each other. But the game would go for close trophies so there's probably a formula because my maximum at 1200 is 300

This is a very much approximate number. He also searches for 30-60+ minutes to find a single match. It is very, very, very possible supercell lets players above say... 3500 trophies attack a wider range of players.

For most normal players, you are matched with someone + or - 100 trophies a fair amount of the time, or + / - 200 nearly all the time. I haven't kept perfect records, that is just my observations.
