And even TH8 is a breeze compared to TH10.

OP I hate to break it to you, but if you are frustrated already at TH6, you might want to find another game....
Many online games work with the concept that as you progress in a game the going forward tends to get slower and slower. In the beginning players are given faster progress to get them hooked on a game, before the grinding starts. The sad bit is that many games fail to really add new clntent to the game as you move forward. Like in CoC the better your offense gets the better the defensies tend to get as well so is it that much different from raiding a base with lv1 barbs and archers then a maxed gowipe? Strategically the game does not get thwt much different.
If you are having trouble now I'd advice you to close shop and stop playing - as it will only get progressively more expensive and the upgrade times greatly increase. The game is not meant to rushed its over a period of time you start to notice which makes it more rewarding IMHO.
What's wrong with kids these days? I remember when I was a kid, games were impossible to beat (remember Battletoads and Ninja Gaiden anyone?). Now, when my kid (yes, I'm old) gets a game, he beats it in 3-6 hours and is done. If he can't, he complains that it is too hard.
To the OP, you can't rely on just your collectors after TH5, so either start raiding (barch is best) or find another game to play. The game takes a lot of time to get to the end (maxed TH10) because the developers don't want you downloading it and uninstalling it in the same day because it got boring to beat it over and over (pun somewhat intended).
This is the first time I have ever laughed at the letters t and h and the number 6.
Just wait until you get to the next town hall. Everything doubles in costs and times for upgrades increases 1-2 sometimes 4 days at a time.........all the way up to town hall 10....
Video games these days (PC and Console) are more like interactive TV shows. The only parts that people play beyond a week is any version of Multiplayer the game has to offer.
Otherwise, the game is meant to be beaten and beaten fairly quickly. It's like buying a box set DVD and binge watching it in a week. Then you move on to the next game, the next show, the next movie.
But I understand, I'm a grinder and enjoy that aspect of this game. Some people just don't have the patients.
If it is not expensive and only take a short time to finish for upgrading, u will reach TH 10 in a month instead of 2-3 years. So , where is the fun part?
