Hello all,
I was curious on the effectiveness of this strategy at TH8 level. Currently have level 4 loons and level 1 minions. Will be upgrading the loons to 5 and then minions after that. Not sure how far I can upgrade the minions as a TH8 but is this a good strategy for me with what I have currently or should I not bother until the loons are maxed along with the minions?

Balloonion at TH8 is possible but requires some strategy and decent lv troops. I would hold off until your balloons are at least lv 5, because even then they are squishy. Definitely work at getting your minions upgraded because they are amazing! Dark elixir can be quite easy to get you just got to go into upper gold and lower crystal. As for the strategy behind it, I personally send my loons in a line on the "weakest" side of the base (Either few AD or WT). Then once they clear away any air bombs send the minions! I would avoid bases with high lv wizard towers that are hard to get to, because that is your worst enemy! Hope this helps! :cool:Quote:

Hmmm... well that depends. If they are well in the center of the base a wiz tower lv 6 or higher would really hurt. If they are more exposed and your loons could take them out quick then a lv 6 or lower should not be a problem. Tried it once in war during my TH7 days and resulted in an epic fail! did not even get me to 30% Lol! Then last war I used a mix of hogs and ballons and it resulted in 3stars. So yeah I want to try this again after 3 days when balloons upgrade is finished. :)Quote:

Well honestly it depends on how many minions you use. They are collective like archers, so it should not hurt you a lot. I used 40 when they were lv 1 and still do now when they are lv 3. When they were lv 1 they did a total of 1520 DPS, and now they deal a total of 1680. Not a huge difference...Quote:

I get the point.. Now what you said earlier as you attack from the "weakest" side of the base? Is it not advisable to strat on the strongest side (the one with the highest lv AD) so as not to hurt your balloons heavily in the long run?Quote:

Yes and no. I go for the side with the least AD because then my balloons take out more of the defenses. Yes by not taking out the stronger AD it can bite you later on. To be honest, once you send in those minions those AD will not be much of a problem because they are single target. So as long as most of the wiz towers are taken out you should be good. I use 2 heal and 1 rage. Drop the heal spells once your loons clump around a wiz tower and rage them when they are all together!Quote:
