I am a mid TH8 with lvl 3 dragons as my current CW strat. I'm looking to add another composition to combat centralized AD or good TH9 bases which I can't always get 3 stars on with dragons.
Cost & training time aren't really factors in this decision as I would need to work toward either option. I'm only looking for the option that is a better alternative to dragons for the sole purpose of getting 3 stars. I'm leaning towards GOWIPE. What do you think?
If u don't care about cost or time go for GoWiPe in clan wars, for trophies ballonion as it is faster and u can attack more.Quote:

balloonian is a 1star, rarely 2, push army....
gowipe/gowiwi are the WAR comps where getting 3stars is a real possibility.
Balloonion is a 1 maybe 2 star comp but Gowipe is a 2-3 star comp (usually).
Thanks for the helpful input. I'll work towards GOWIPE which is what I was feeling before this thread. Also, I think it would be good to have a ground strat because I already have dragons for the skies.
I brought up balloonian because I know it's good for pushing at least. Also, 2 wars ago we got WRECKED by a clan using mostly balloons lvl 5. It was pretty humbling I must say.

While I do agree with most of the posters that GoWiPe would be the better choice for the OP to use in clan wars, I just want to point out that balloonions can actually be used to effectively 3 star well developed TH9's if the layout is right.
Ever since the difficulty level of hogs raids was turned way up in the last update I have been experimenting with Balloonion as a Clan War strategy as this is what I have been using to farm.
I have had pretty good success against some pretty decently leveled TH9's if they have the right base layout. Air defenses on or near the perimeter, off centered AQ, and downward pointing x-bows means the base can in fact be overcome by Balloonions for a nice 3 star. I use 28 max loons, 40 maxed minions, and 20 archers for killing cc troops, 3 rage and 2 heal spells (don't even use all 5 spells most of the time).
Obviously much less effective against a TH10 with infernos, but still viable if the base is somewhat preemie and has the same design vulnerabilities described above.
But back to the OP, at TH8 with only level 5 balloons and level 4 minions, I wouldn't recommend using that for clan wars unless you are taking on TH8's or lower.
With the criteria you described, ANY air attack would work on that base - mass dragon, balloonion, dragloonion, hell even mass minion may work. Besides, you are a TH10, so you should be getting 2-3 stars on a TH9 almost all the time.Quote:

- With tightly packed defenses, you should look at mass loon (lvl 5) or mass hog except when there are double gb spots. Pull the CC first.
- Without centralized AD or with low level AD, mass dragon or dragons and loons (tank the AD with a dragon and send in the loons or rage mass dragons through the ADs).
- With big open spaces or low level walls, GoWipe
- With an exposed CC and lower level walls or big compartments, giant/wizard
- Pretty much any other base would be a pekka/wizard or GoWipe target.

Thanks for the response. I know every base should be approached with a made-to-order army. But my lab can only upgrade one thing at a time and I no can has gemz, so I'm starting with GOWIPE based on this discussion.Quote:

All I was saying it that people tend to write Balloonion off as a one star strategy, when in fact it has the potential to be quite effective vs. TH9's and TH10's in clan wars. But just like with any army comp, there are some bases that are designed in such a way as to make it a bad idea to use a particular army.
I don't understand Why everyone sticks to one attack. I use Gowiwi, Hog/heal, GoWipe. Each base has a different
combination that benefits specific bases. I don't touch dragons though, dragons are for pussies, who don't have any skill.
