I understand that trophy hunters protect their town halls and I get why farmers leave theirs isolated but I don't understand why some people isolate their TH but then place it in the range of 1 cannon or a wizard tower for example. I came across 1 today where the TH was in the corner away from the base but it was enclosed in a wall with 2 cannons. Obviously they are still easy to destroy but I don't quite understand the point if there is one. Am I missing something?
I've been asking myself the same
Mine is in range of 1 archer tower if it's like a barbarian. Archers cant be hit. It is unintentional but I have it set that way for a buffer so people can't drop troops close. So it's still 2 cells away from the wall but in range just for the enemy drop buffer
1.) Forces troops to spawn farther away.
2.) Extra hit points.
3.) Amusing replays.
Fair enough I suppose but when I farm I want to encourage people to attack just my TH so I put it in far corner. Each to their own however
Lol i hid a tesla by mine, got a funny replay of a dude tried ko me with a warrior, ended up having to use 4 giants 15 warriors and like 33 archers just out of rage lolo, still only took out my th
i used to put a mortar protecting the hall from anything, and it was hilarious watching people drop 50+ troops haha.
It causes noobs to waste troops. I have also, in the past, placed my town hall on the side that is most attractive to farmers in order to slow them down.
Lol, just use like 90 archers to take it down, unless it is guarded by a mortar
Otherwise, just send in a mob of giants then the archers

It's stupid to partially defend a town hall. Having it completely undefended is much better as you will gain a free shield much more frequently, which for me is much more important than having an embarrassing attack once every few days. Plus if people invest a larger amount of troops just to destroy the town hall it is much more likely they will invest the extra amount just to try and get some resources as well.
Also, I have my town hall completely unprotected and I still get people using very large amounts of troops to destroy it.
If I attack what I believe to be an undefended TH only to be surprised by hidden teslas I would definitely throw more troops in and go for a farming raid maybe even zap their DE storage if it was worth it.
Let's not forget that not everyone who plays this game is old enough to understand the kinds of strategic considerations we're discussing.

The reason is simple: For the lulz.
I like it when somebody drops 1 troop expecting the easy win..then ZZZZZZZAAAPPPPPP!!!! dead archer. This is usually followed by a few more troops, up pops two more Teslas ZZZZZAAAPPPPPP!!!!ZZZZZBBBRRRAAAPPP!!!- more dead troops.
After the second wave fails they usually send their ENTIRE army to exact some sort of revenge. Oh, they get their one-star, but that's about it....My base is too good for them to 3-star unless they know what they are doing.
I'm one of those who has their TH outside, but protected with several defenses. Why? because I don't have enough room inside my walls for it. Yes, I'm currently in farming mode, but I don't care about getting a shield because I always cancel it anyway by going raiding before the shield expires. Well most of the time. If I'm upgrading a couple of defenses I'll move my TH further away from the main base to (hopefully) get a shield. There are some people who will purposely not attack a TH.
I am a lv8 farmer myself. I do place my T Hall outside the wall but still with slight defense from my defense inside the wall of archer, cannon n mortar.
the reason is simple. I want the attacker to take the T Hall and give me a 12 hrs shield but not just with a archer. I do not his troop to move in further toward my walls, also the longer time I can delay his attack, The safer n better for me...
does it sound logic enough or am I nut?

Exactly this. I literally have both of my teslas and a mortar in range of it even though it's on the outside behind 0 walls. Watching ppl litreally drop 100+ units at the sametime on the TH and watching them get 1 shot by the mortar is hilarious. On the opposite side of the spectrum watching other people drop a couple at a time and still watching them get annihilated in small groups is funny too.Quote:

i usually place my th outside just within reach of mortars or any other defensive building. This is because most of the time people will not only go for th but also resources, this way you get to lower their numbers before they go for the price. :)
Just had one there. TH in the corner so I drop 5 archers. Up pops two teslas so I put in about another 20 archers to deal with it all. Since I now feel I'm committed I throw a few level 3 dragons and some giants at the opposite end and end up taking 2000 DE and around 100 k of gold/elixir. To me that person shot themselves in the foot.
