Please don't do this Supercell. Then you will have people trying to attack out of their range just to get gems. I agree that gems would be an awesome perk for the winning team as part of the loot bonus - but please keep it at a clan level so people don't do stupid attacks in wars. ;)
I disagree. The best designed base would be ignore and not have a chance at the heroic defense. TH7/8 with dragons also have the best chance of getting heroic attack even though the attack requires little skill. There's a lot of luck involved with defense and a lot of opportunistic situations with attacks. Top players have little chance to get either too
You can get heroic attacks with just 2 stars. This might cause people to go for a suicidal 2 star instead of a reasonable 3 star
I think what he is trying to say is that people will start attacking up in an effort to get most heroic attack simply for the gems, resulting in fewer stars for the war effort. I agree that gems for individuals in individual wars is a bad idea. Gem rewards should be for larger scale accomplishments like the gem reward for the top clans/players in a two week season. This would require some form of the often requested war tournament to implement but I do see it as part of the future of the game with gems as the reward at that level.
