Upgrading walls. Inner-outer

When upgrading walls, what would be the most strategic route to go? All interior walls first then exterior or vice versa?

I don't think the level matters but as an example I am currently upgrading my walls from 7 to 8. This can also be for players that are just starting out as they go from 3-4 or 5-6, etc.

Inner walls first - This would be more beneficial because wall breakers have a tougher time reaching center cells, squares, partitions, or the soft gooey center of a base. Having stronger walls in the middle would make it more difficult for troops to fight their way through, without the assistance of Rage spell, and thus giving your defense more time to annihilate the attackers.

Outer shell first - This seems to be the more popular route that I see when I search for attacks. My theory on this, which I have used until now, is that a strong outer shell helps keep troops completely outside of the base and slows them down from the start as opposed to slowing them down in the middle. With the new wall breakers having a greater splash damage, I don't think this option is extremely viable anymore but still might be because now they take 2 housing spaces.

What are some of your strategical theories on it?

Before the new WB AI I would have said outer, but my approach now has been inner walls first as those are the ones most likely to be attacked by units other than Breakers. Walled off decoy buildings also help with this if you have enough spare wall

I agree completely, my outside shell is still lvl 6, but my inside shell is on its way to all lvl 8 walls. There is no difference between lvl 6-8 for wallbreakers so it's more important to upgrade the walls that normal units will attack, such as the core, also the core usually consists of resources and splash damage so they need the best protection.

I'm at TH 7, upgrading my walls to level 7, my inner ring is fully purple. As other people mentioned, these are the ones that are attacked by units other than WBs, I find.

I would say inner walls purely because they are less prone to wall breaker attack.

If your storages are very grouped up, inner. If not, outer.

The most important is actually junctions, both inner and outer. You want to make it as hard as possible to break into multiple compartments at once, no matter where they are. This is most important for level 6 and 9 walls, but it always helps when other troops (not wallbreakers) have to attack walls. After junctions, though, I prefer upgrading inner walls.

I agree always junctions first, then inner walls as they are more likely to be attacked by regular troops as opposed to wall breakers. Also I would say not to leave the outer walls more than a level behind of the inner ones, as even if it makes little difference for walls breakers, as not everyone uses them, like me, and with just barbs and archers it's easy to break trough one layer of level 6 walls and pick of structures with archers on the inside.

Exactly....

i always upgrade the most vulnerable sections first and then the areas I'm wanting to push ppl away from.

I have just one concern about the level of walls after the latest update: what difference does wall level make against minions and boar riders? Not being snide here, just a genuine question/concern.

Maybe just do them all.

Also upgrading my walls from inner first. It's anti-tier one troops. Wallbreakers have a hard time reacing the inner walls and it's not uncommon to see goblins struggle to get past the skull walls to get to my storages.

I do inner walls first to protect the core and probably coz there is less segments inside and it goes faster than the outer walls

I upgrade the wall junctures where intersections meet first because these are ALWAYS attacked first by troops looking for a new target on the other side of a wall, then i do inner
