Walls - Are they worth it?

Man, I also have heard tons of things like that in the past months and you know what? I'm doing my best raids here at TH9. On the paper, TH7 should be the best town hall level for loot... on the paper, because in practice you can just forget about raiding a decent town hall 8, imagine a town hall 9. So just forget those 3-400k storages. Even if you're a collectors raider, with level 4 troops, if the collectors are close to the defences, you get smashed in the blink of an eye by both TH8 and 9 defences, risking not to get all the resources and having no chances to get the 50%. With level 6 troops, you can BARCH TH9-10 collectors getting the 50% and the league bonus, and you can even raid TH7-8 storages quite easely.

Walls never seem worth it, but you would be surprised how many people will skip your base just because of the high level walls. I have low defense towers, but my walls are sick, no one touches me, I will go 4-5 days without an attack attempt.

Yes walls are worth, if you are a serious raider or player, and want to go far do it now, because once you hit Th10 it's so much harder to find a good lootable base, money will be tight.

Personally, I upgraded about half my walls to skulls before I jumped to TH9. Once I was in 9, based on the loot and how active I am, it wasn't too difficult to upgrade my walls. I'll probably try to get all lego's before I jump to TH10 in a couple weeks. I think it depends on your activity and where you want to be in clan wars. GOWIPE/GOWIWI are guaranteed 2 stars if your walls are lagging behind.

Of course go to TH 9 dont waste ur time ur ganna b at skulls forever if u continue go and enjoy ur fun instead of depressingly slaving away

It really depends on the league you're farming at. I'm a TH level 9 with 210 legos, my defences are at max level for a town hall level 8 except for the level 3 X-Bows and level 7 mortars. Nice layout. I'm farming at Crystal 2 and right there people don't think twice about attacking me, especially now that I'm sitting on a 120k+ DE storage.

i agree on the intimidation factor. a th9 with lvl 8 walls looks way more intimidating then a th9 lvl 7 walls. and even though both require the same amount of wb to bust through them, it does means more work for lvl 9 walls. which require 3 wb to bust through them. i say stay at th8 and prey on those meaty th7s while you still can.

as someone who has nearly maxed out firewalls, yes it fights off attacks at the highest level.

someone with purple or pink walls can easily be 3ed by another max th10

Skull walls are expensive but, they are not impossible to do. It all depends on your activity. Also, if there is a large discrepancy between your struc. upgrades and wall upgrades then you were just lazy and didn't plan your upgrades well enough.

Towards the end of th8, the upgrades take so long that you have to have an idle worker to throw all your daily gold in walls. (You either plan your upgrades precisely where one finishes everyday giving u a chance to expunge all that extra gold in walls or you keep one idle. I recommend the former but, you can keep one idle for a day or two in order to preserve the sequence of idle workers.)

Point of the walls is simple: to delay the army from getting to your defense and storage as much as possible while your def. strucs splash them to hell. If you combine good walls w/ an intelligent design then you'll always have success defensively. (I only say this 'cause someone pointed out earlier that design is more important than walls. At th9 and 10, design HAS to be good but, you have to have good walls too.)

Whilst some players point out to hogs, dragons etc which ignore walls and say what's the point of upgrading walls, I say that the reason SC has implemented these units is because upgraded walls are so good; not the other way around.

On a side note, loons, dragons, hogs (plus the needed spells) are so expensive that it doesn't make any sense for one to use these units for a normal raid. Therefore, they shouldn't be considered in this discussion.

Now, regarding th8 and skull walls sepcifically, I can't believe that anyone will have a problem maxing walls at th8. TH7 and 8 are full of farms around 1600+. TH8 army can't fail at a th7. I regularly used at least 2 spells w/ a 90K army to raid at that level and got everything gold related done while having 3 full elixir storages. (I couldn't give that thing away.) TH8 was one of the best levels to convert elixir into gold.

If you are having problems maxing th8 walls then you are doing something wrong or not doing enough.
