Some people (like my clan) are so OCD. only upgrading one defense structure at a time to create symmetry. Myself on the other hand had various different defenses down at a time. When I was early TH9 the compartment where a WT was upgrading was always exploited and thus they only walked away with quarter of the loot at best. That being said, splash is much more important especially against those level 6 archers. So WT is it.

I did xbows for core protection. My clan is cw oriented so I'm not really worried about being barched.
