I have been having the same problem all day long today with the DD not refreshing at all. This came after the fact that connecting to their server was taking a long, long time when going to other farms or to other languages in the DD. It is frustrating and makes the game boring since every stall I do click on is absolutely empty. Those pages and offers had passed long ago. It makes me want to quit playing as many people on our forum have due to the latest changes in the game. B.O.R.I.N.G!
If anything, Supercell has just proved how necessary an on-demand user refresh of the DD is needed to keep this game interesting... unless they have another trick up their sleeve to better facilitate the buying and selling of goods. The refresh button could be on the last page of the DD - just to show, "Yeah, been through it, saw all the eggs for 180 coins on 'sale', ready to move on. Next!"
When you get to the higher levels, newspaper scanning is an important part of our gameplay in order to keep our farms running (and upgrading).
I posted this excerpt from my post in the ideas/feature request to create a user on-demand refresh of the DD. I have seen games, particularly games like this, make changes to stop "the bots". For the few people that complained about bots, you now have millions complaining about the change.
Here is what I had to write:
Being a social networking gamer for the last 10 years, I can hint Supercell to look at Zynga. In their heyday (no pun intended), they were riding at the top much like Supercell is currently. One of their most popular games, Mafia Wars, became overrun by "script" users. Zynga spent so much time trying to fight the use of scripts/bots, they forgot about the people who actually played the game by giving them watered-down features (ring-a-bell - and not the one letting me know there is a lame event going on...). Still, to this day, they lost millions of daily and monthly users, and the bots/scripts still run the show.
In the end, the people that actually play the game suffer. They went from having millions of daily users, to now thousands.
So, here is what people are going to do...
Rather than jump back and forth between device play, change language, etc... they are just going to create new game center IDs and use a fake FB account to create a new farm. They will do this for every device they own. So, instead of force refreshing 1 DD on one account, they will be playing 2, 3, 4 accounts at the same time. While, this will look great for Supercell as new users playing will start to spike (watch the metrics as it will happen), once players become overburdened by this game play (which by reading these forums... many already have), they will stop playing the game.
But, remember... for every one person stopping game play, each account that person has will stop playing too. This will result in drastic drop-offs in users playing. And, in the end, the script users and bots will still win - they always do because they are more determined. (Supercell still hasn't completely fixed their issue with ghosting in CoC - Clan Wars)
If you want to stay on top, give the people who play the game what they want (within reason). A on-demand refreshed newspaper is not asking for miracles and is certainly not going to hurt Hay Day's bottom line (or is it... as now it is much harder to find parts to upgrade which may make people use diamonds to purchase parts instead of finding them in the DD:confused:). And investors be warned, Zynga has lost 85% of its heyday value.
I have the same problem and I think that they should allow us to manually refresh the newspaper on-demand, instead of making us search desperately for newspaper tricks. I'm playing for trading and searching for good offers and upgrade materials on dd. If this isn't a bug, and is an intended step, it makes the game pointless for me. Older players have already reached 3000+ capacities with all those tricks, but as a new player I won't be able to find upgrade materials to upgrade my barn etc. To sum up, ability to refresh the newpaper on-demand must be an official feature to keep inter-player action going. We also need a player-to-player private messaging and trading system.
The whole close game out (dbl clicking home button on iPad) is defiantly not working....BOO SUPERCELL

Same thing....I check twice a day if the problem is solved but I don't play anymore.
The game is now pointless to me with this problem...
No irony here, but do SC people reply to these bug threads?

Sorry, but I can't play the game this way. My farm relies on a up-to-date dd.
I probably have to quit if they don't fix the "fix". What a shame.
So far the worst fix of all time from Supercell.
I usually love what SC do in HayDay, but in that case I'm totally disappointed...
High level players really need that refresh tip to play and keep their farm working, especially to get some products like milk, baccon, etc.. Our barn storage does not allow us to keep a lot of common products.
SC has to find a solution because currently, the newspaper is useless. We don't even have the time to buy anything in it, the products are bought in a second..
I started HayDay a year ago, and never think to stop it because I love it. But well, if this problem is not solve, play the game will be impossible...
exactly...it will be very difficult to get all kind of products for boat, truck and town now ...not even mentioned all the upgrade matrials :(Quote:

Been having this problem with 24hrs now!! I know they're trying their best to fix it but an update on forum to say yes we acknowledge the problem and r trying to sort it would be good!!
