TH8 Base building project - Care to join me?

Hello fellow clashers! I have an idea for designing a base. I have been wanting to make my own base for TH8 for awhile, and have been constantly playing around on the base edit feature many times and with little success. I felt like I was always missing something. So I just thought, why not work on a base with someone else? Maybe even multiple people. After all, two heads are better than one!

So, what kind of base was I thinking of making? Well, since it is hard to make a trophy base even at TH8, I was looking towards more of a farming base. Would anyone be interesting in working with me and with other people in making the best farming base yet for TH8?

Some key questions that will have to be talked over I will list below:

What would be included in the core?

Would the base rely on funneling or AI?

What resources would be protected the most?

Sounds good, I'm an experienced townhall 8 and have made many farming/trophy bases. I tend to rely on troop AI and some funnelling.

Nice, I feel the same way. It would be really fun to try and create a semi-function labyrinth.

Also, how do you guys feel about trap via spawn hole bases? I have some fun success with such bases as of late :D

Someone should start off with a base core, then we all take that and add some stuff to it and upload it here, and we all do that until it's finished :D

I don't see how this is going to work. Just post your unfinished base layout and let us criticize the sh it out of it

If you don't know how to create a base that defends well and works, then you don't have a right to criticize.

Aight so the clan castle is going in the core, that's a no-brainer. I think that the de should also be in the core because of its high value, as an easily accessible de storage is likely to get you raided. As for defenses in the core, I think not so much, as they would act as giant magnets and allow ground troops access to the de storage.
But then we have to think, what else should be in the core, and what should the entire size and shape of the core be?

Any thoughts?

Maybe bk? And traps perhaps?

edit: and thumper I like your idea lets all come to a consensus on a core there proceed from there

I agree with the CC in the dead center. That DE storage as you said, should also be in the core since it is valuable. Since the update, I always wanted to see the BK included in a base's core so I would like to try and include him as well in there. As for traps, the only traps I would be interested in seeing in the core would be teslas. They have high DPS and can be interesting as a last line of defense.

I would be interested. I've already made a town hall 8 farming base so maybe you could take a look at it and see if you like the look of my designs?

Sure. Glad to have you on board! I am no base expert myself, but after doing a lot of research and copying I think I am familiar with the key parts of a base and what not.

Hmmm the only problem with Tessa's in the center is that they would lure giants in, but if you were willing to allow that I have a somewhat interesting core idea.

It looks good to me! But I bet you want to why...

I think that core would be too big. The concept is nice... Having all your mortars and AD in the center. But the core just becomes too big at that point... Sorry.

I think we need to try everything in order to come out succeeding. Think big, th9's and th0's use this kind of core.

I think that that's the right idea, we need to try everything, but I also think that th9 and 10s can get away with using a larger core due to more walls and defensive buildings. I think that at th8 we should have a core that's just a bit smaller.

So if we need a smaller core, then what should we put in? CC, DE Storage, King, Teslas, and a Gold Storage seems to be what we have so far.

The second one might be a bit better if you switched the king and gold storage.

The only reason why I suggested a core like that is because there is nothing in there besides de that is valuable, so no one will try going to the core if there is nothing important. So the mortars will be alive, the king will be in the center making the base look like a pain to attack. I know what I'm talking about :cool:

A trend that I see working is smaller rounder cores, at the dead center of bases. If they are too long in any direction, they tend to get broken into easier and stomped through.

Hmmm i see your point, but then where does all our valuable stuff go? And with a bigger core the storage so would have to be closer to the edge making me easier to nab.

I agree... We need a fairly small core that still has buildings of value in it. I don't see a need to put mortars in the core imo...

The storage can go in the next layer, right after this one, and the defensive structures after that, which would kinda render this base anti hog because the hogs would go around the base, giants too. I'm not saying this base would end up a box shaped, because I'm against that, but let's give everything a try. There's a lot of cores here already, take one and add to it, then re-post it.

I think it looks good. But like said before by several people, I think we should see how each core ends up. Would you all like to continue on with each of our cores and develop them into a full base to see how they end up? Then we can regroup and compare results. At that point whichever core does the best we will stick with and play around with.

EDIT: Which one of my cores do you guys think I should stick with then?

Yep we are going for a farming base with BK, CC, DE storage, 1 gold storage, and teslas in the core.

Ok kool i seen earlier in the thread about traps..make one section of the base with a defence building with a section of double big bombs to stop hog rider attacks

Alright. Is there a defense structure in particular that they should be next to or does it not really matter?

thought i would post my farming base for use.. My elixer is more to the out side but makes troops funnel around the base n not getting into the middle..i also pushed with it n only got three stared a hand full of timesAttachment 58309

No doesn't really matter wat defence its in front of cause hogs have to go to all defences first so double bomb some where in the base..cause 2 giant bombs will kill 20 hogs or more

Ah, it looks like you used a "block" core like one suggested by ThumperOG. Did that core serve you well? I am starting to think I should incorporate my AD in the core to make the base anti-drag as well as anti-hog. Both types of bases involve making a "ring" around the base anyways.

Yeah my base worked fine down in gold league but crystal 2 n higher doesn't matter wat base design u have as th8 u will get beat..but it worked fine for farming in gold league thats where I maxed my base befor pushing

All right if anyone need any second opinion on any sections of their base while building just ask!

Wish they would add a base builder right here on the forums where we could add and add between all of us until the base becomes a masterpiece :p

Here's what happened with my core... Notice that I am not protecting the third elixir storage since I have all elixir upgrades done for TH8. There is undoubtedly countless mistakes I have made in the design... Let me know what I should change!

Its fairly solid u will just have to use it a few weeks n see how it stands the test thats what I use to do..only thing I thinks gonna let u down I that bottom mortar is gonna be easy to get on that out side edge

Currently using this core.It's 8x8 in size.Was put all teslas at the upper space of DE storage but 3 starred by a TH9 which use them to lure his giants and heroes to the core then all is over.So put those teslas at the outside layer to act as traps to make the giants go around the base .Any thoughts?

Finished the base, slight adjustment to the core, I really like it! What do you guys think?
