Maxing TH8/9

The most common advice for people who plan to upgrade their TH is to max their base first but how often is this idea followed? I had no problem with TH7 but for TH8, I didn't max out TH8 before going to TH9 because I didn't have any other elixir building left to upgrade. I needed 12m more gold (excluding walls) and 39 more builder days time when I finished me last elixir upgrade so I'm wondering if others continued to max their base and let their elixir overflow or simply moved up

Im still TH 8 and I'm probably going to max my base before upgrading to TH 9. But could change, not sure.

Always better to max if you can. I can understand why some don't quite max 8 though. Few elixer upgrades and so much gold needed(including 112.5mil just for walls from lvl 7-8) so you will often be sitting on max elixer with nothing to spend it on as a later TH8.

It also takes the same amount of lvl 5 wall breakers to break lvl 7/8 walls, so that's another reason why many opt to upgrade to TH9 before maxing walls.

However, walls do matter (especially after the first layer of breakers have been used) which in turn takes your enemy longer to break through giving your defenses more time to pummel enemy troops.

If you plan to max walls eventually, might as well do them. You are going to have max elixer if you Barch or Bam frequently anyway (especially if farming walls) so either way it's a losing game in terms of sitting on max elixer with nothing to spend it on.

I'd say always max if you can, but it's a personal choice.

I maxed th8 completely apart from golem 2 and valk 2, with th9 i just did some labs, xbows to 3, wts to 7, and a couple hero upgrades( aq7), this was when the loot was pitiful so i made jump to th10, now have both level 3 inferno's, 3 lvl 3 xbows and all that jazz.

I forgot to ask if people's DE storages were overflowing too. My king got to lv10 so both my elixir and DE were fighting for a spot in the lab. I didn't want to end up wasting DE too so I didn't max my TH8 base. I ended up playing around with golems, hogs, and valks to avoid my storage being completely filled up

I would like to max my walls but I rather not let that drive me to waste too much DE and elixir
