Bit of advice please

So I didn't really start looking at these forums until I was around TH7 and then still didn't really understand what was going on fully. :D

By the reading I've done I'm guessing I'm a 'premmie' TH8. The reason for this is basically I wanted those level 5 Archers and Barbarians to make Barching alot easier, that was until I found out about the loot penalty and wish I hadn't tbh.

I'm currently farming in and around 1400-1850 trophies.

I've added screenshots of my base and Lab upgrades looking for a load of advice really.

You got a lot of work to do mate!

The most you can do is have those builders constantly doing something, which it looks like you already are doing. I would try have 4 catching up your defenses in this order: Mortars > Wizard Towers > Archer Towers > Cannons > Air Defense while you have 1 builder do walls as you wait. If you want to lessen the waiting time you can upgrade all 3 splash defenses at once. Losing a few trophies is a small cost to pay for having all your mortars or wizard towers down in a 1/3 of the time!

Base

Wiz tower and air defense are really important at TH8. Those should be your primary focuses until you get those maxed out. Get Mortars/wiz/air defense maxed out its ok if cannons/archers/teslas are a little behind for now if you have 5 builders throw one one teslas non-stop as they take awhile to get to lvl 6.

Lab
You have barch lvl 5 which means this is not going to be as hard as someone with lvl 4 barch. Get your wall bangers and giants up to lvl 5 so your farming army Barbs,Archers, Giants, WB's are all lvl 5. Then focus on getting those wizards to lvl 5 as they are BA at that lvl.

I've been trying to keep each type of building upgrading atleast once at a team. i.e 1 for Barracks/Camps, 1 for Splash, 1 for Single (Cannons/Towers) 1 for Collectors/Storage and keeping that one free for walls all the time.

So you reckon concentrate on 1 specific type first? i.e defenses?

First up i'm a newly Town hall 8 from a maxed Town hall 7. Personally I enjoyed maxing out my Town hall every time, however people do play the game differently and who am I to judge.

The bad move you made was upgrading your town hall just for higher level BARCH. Yes level 4-5 is a big jump in terms of BARCH-ing but the loot penalty IMO counteracts this . Town hall 8 loot isn't that great off to Town hall 7's.

My advice
1.) Try not to do this in future
2.) I'm not going to tell you how to play the game, but i would max town hall 8. (which is what i'm currently doing)
3.) The gold leagues are best for farming IMO at Town Hall 8 so stay where your at or experiment to your preference.
4.) Farm as much as you can and gain back the levels you have lost!

Yes. If your camps are not all maxed either then get those upgraded ASAP as well! More troops to bring in your raids is a huge help in farming! It looks like you got 1 camp you got to upgrade. You could do 3 mortars and that 1 camp at once, if you want.

Hate to say it, but you've got a lot of work ahead of you, and with a stiff loot penalty as an added handicap. I'd actually start off by maxing all your collectors and mines. Itll be a boring week, but at least youll have that steady income going forward. I actually like your base layout for the most part, although your defenses are sadly neglected for going to th8. Since you're mainly barching, the other troop upgrades available are prioritized by what you think you'll use. For the base, after the collectors/mines, lets get the splash damage defenses maxed first, followed by air+ground, then air only / ground only, then those poor walls, traps. Good luck.

You forgot teslas Ryuken

Mortars > Wizard Towers > Air Defenses > teslas > Cannons > Archer Towers

Let me explain this.

Mortar : easy because at level 6 they one shot archers
Wiz towers : mortar are slow, you need splash to finish those barbs and gobs
AD : You have nice walls, so people will send you air attacks or even healers. You need at least level 5 to kill them
tesla : for me they are better than archers towers because they attack more than once each second, so they can finish up small troops. They take long time to upgrade, so it gives you time to farm.
Cannons : they are better than archer tower because they do more damage and build faster.

I mix and match all those upgrade so not everything is upgraded at the same time

1 mortar, 1 wiz tower, 1 tesla and one AD.

If you find you have too much gold, you switch a tesla for a cannon until you have less gold.

Stop you walls at level 6 until your defense are better.

I guess with barch, you will gather gold fast. So keep those builders busy and don't think about going to TH9 for a long while please.

What you're doing is fine, but prioritize Teslas with your single target builder. They take forever. Make sure you don't neglect your Air Defense either. I wouldn't worry too much about maxing collectors straight away unless you're get a chance to raid much. Do them last if you can.
