A few of our TH9 guys have started using 2 wizards and the rest archers. The logic being that the main attack they get hit with is hogs... wizards always come out last and the archers take an age to stream out... so a badly cleared CC means 1 or 2 wizards to mess up your nice hog raid.
Personally, I like 2 lv2 witches + 2 lv6 wizards + 3 lv6 archers. Either that or 8 lv6 wizards and 3 lv6 archers. Both will mess golems and heroes up.
Dragons are ok for low level bases but are easy to take down. defensive troops like hogs/giants should be avoided. Golems can be effective against tier 1 troops as they AoE as they die but aren't as good as a CC full of lv8 wizards. That can stop a 40 BK dead and kill a raid.
I don't rate valks personally, they are good in theory but not in practice.
Not every strike of a lightning spell would hit usually only 1 or 2, which leaves a sliver of health left on a lvl 5 or 6 wizard.
My personal favourite cc combo is 26 archers and a lonely wizard.
Best cc troops in order are:
Archers
Wiz
Minions
Drag
Valks
Witches
Balloons
As a maxed TH6, I like dragons for defense. because most people at farming trophy levels don't know how to deal with a dragon in CC and it will stay alive for a long time... WB is worst.
WB sure is the worst I think. Haha. :) My favorites are giants, to be honest, and then archers. I love giving out wizards though. I think it all depends on the player's purpose, however. Personally I use giants for offense, and then archers (or even wizards) for defense.
Wizards are by far the best troop to have in the clan castle! They are amazing in general! :cool:
Witches, if the guy destroys them wrong, and only take out the skeletons they are doomed. The witch will keep spawning skeletons until the witch actually dies. Also they deal splash, long range.
i think drag are the best and gobs are worst

For offense, a dragon is always nice.
For defense, witches, wiz, and archers are usually the best. I say dragons are too slow, but still pretty powerful as they can kill groups of archers. Love when someone does an all ground raid, and the dragon wipes out all the troops :o
