surgical vs spamming

i am aware there are 2 types of looning, the first one is where you deploy loons in a line and rage them to the core and follow with minions, the second type involves dropping one or 2 loons and taking out one defense and sending minions to clean up, eventually getting 50% around the base raging when nessecary.

my question is what tactic is used for what bases and what situation, (cw, farming, pushing)

so far i have only done the spamming way but would be intrested in learning how to do it surgically, if anyone could either point me towards a guide, or even invite me to their clan to show me hows its done i would be very thankful.

I think surgical works better when the defenses are more spread out and spamming is good against bases with defenses all clumped together.

Surgical, I will try my best to explain.

1. Place 2 or 3 loons on each archer tower
2. Use minions to pick off now unprotected buildings
3. To destroy air defenses use about 6 or 7 loons and a rage, hopefully also taking out nearby archer towers
4. Use minions to pick off the unprotected freebies
5. Clear the freebies and use heroes if needed or just for loot

this is used for looning semi-maxxed bases while pushhing if im correct? btw thnx for the response

I go surgical when the ADs are fairly exposed - usually dropping 3-4 per AD and leaving a few to take on the side with TH closest to.

Spamming with rages is pretty good too especially when you have rage spells and after you've taken care of the CC troops.

Correct. Although maxed bases could also be destroyed as seen here:

Whomever gave you the guide is pretty good, but as for when to use them, never use surgical in clan wars, because it'll only get you a star. For pushing, at th 10 you have to start being surgical (unless you're absolutely incredible) at 2700-2800 or so, so I recommend being surgical if you're farming in masters. If you want a more detailed guide, I'm pretty sure zachUVA put together a nice one (it was for farming, but the same strategy could be used for pushing too).
