the main thing this thread brings out in my mind is the fact that the town is unbalanced with respect to cost/reward compared to other activities. EXCEPT that you cannot get vouchers in the town, so that still provides incentive to do boats and/or trucks. Funny thing I is after reading all these opinions I am feeling some wisdom from SC, that maybe that game is not really as out of balance as I thought. IF one takes what might be a slightly different approach to the game.
This is best illustrated by the comments "I don't even mind sending townies away any more" and "you can't do the town along with anything else - it's town OR anything else". I just do whatever I find advantageous in the town, serve one stop townies, get rid of product that I have excess of, etc. I have no negative feeling whatsoever to turn away a customer, even if I have already served him!!! With this the town is just an option to take advantage of when I want to, when it is fun to do so, and not a requirement or expectation. Lately I find myself wanting to do the town mainly when I hit barn full, and want to get rid of some stuff quickly (getting rewarded handsomely in the process).
I do think the town is a brilliant feature. And I hope SC has more planned for it. It is a little distressing it seems to be ruining the game for some people. I hope they can adapt and find the way that they can enjoy the game again.
And back to events, seems consensus that SC can get us all more excited about the game again with some new/different events.
