apathy for events?

lately most of my townies have been asking for three different items, each. That makes it hard to keep up. I know I don't have to fill the order, but it makes it a challenge to keep up.

a clothing shop is needed in the town, and maybe a jewelry store since truck orders for jewelry are fewer than before. But it would be nice to get vouchers still for jewelry. I really liked the events that awarded things like the Cupid statue or the telescope. Maybe they could give a prize for the town.....like a sandcastle to put on the beach, or something. I know someone mentioned before having events that involve the town somehow. That would be cool.

My problem isn't jam is everything that requires milk and sugar and those are a lot.
And I have an advantage because we have our own little neighborhood here at my house. We are lucky in that one member gets tapes, the other gets bolts etc. I have lots of fields so when my kids get lettuce boats we can all get together and fill those boats etc. Today three of us have hired Tom so that none of us forgets to send him off. I am only working my town twice a day and trying to send Tom for candy, soups,ice cream etc while I try to replenish the cream /sugar supplies. I remember back who I would hold a barn emptying sale and really enjoy bringing the stocks back up. I wouldn't dream of doing that now.

You know another problem might be that we have way more non food items to keep on hand. More metal bars, TEM LEM etc. There was a time when you knew it was OK to sell off your LEM and there was no reason not to sell bars to truck or even in the RSS. Now you feel like you have to hold onto them because you are just not sure where they are needed or will be needed. Maybe if we finally get the clothing store we are all hoping for, it will ease up in the barn anyway.

Just throwing things up for consideration here.

With all due respect to ALL players, I don't think anyone who doesn't have a town can understand these points of view from Glade Maid, Tigg, myself and others. The town COMPLETELY changed the game. It would be comparing apples to oranges to compare the experiences of straight farmers to farmers/towners.

Another probably un intended consequence with the town is the glut of diamond rings in the shops. I just answered another post suggesting that there are so many because a lot of us aren't even touching the truck board. If you don't do trucks or at least trash the orders, new ones for rings aren't generated. Since this is the only place to get them out of the game, they just move from farm to farm until Greg and Tom buy them.

Katie thinks Angus should come buy things from time to time and she wants to know what's in the pipe that he is smoking!

I AM getting truck orders for diamond rings, two at a time, and I even received a purple voucher for them a couple of days ago, though all the rest have been green. At least it keeps those rings a movin'. :)

Hayday is so different. I have never invested as much time and thought into a game before. But something is off and I am not ready or willing to just chuck it for another. Yes I play other games. One even uses ! To flag your train for help. Talk about imitation being the sincerest form of flattery. And when my internet was down,I played solitaire because it didn't need a internet connection. But when the connection came back, this time the urgency just wasn't there.

What do we want them to do? Not sure. Possibly something simple like shifting what the townies ask for. There must have been a conscience decision to have the cinema people ask for fish and chips more than popcorn and for two ice creams but not raspberry muffins. I rarely get asked for bacon and eggs at the bed and breakfast. It seems to me that' she perfect place for it. There are a lot of products that could be used that get little attention. Maybe a tweak here and there. Some use for all the wool products and clothes would be nice. Maybe a seasonal decoration for an event prize instead of diamonds. Vouchers for personal goals instead of LEM. Something is needed.

Anyway. That's what I think.

I agree something is needed. I, too, have invested a lot of time in this game (level 106) and don't want to see this wonderful game go downhill. I've been playing since February 2013 and I still have this uncanny need to log into the game everyday to make sure all my stalls are filled and to make sure all my farming/towning duties are met. It's just disheartening to hear some long time players feel that it might be the end of the rope for them because of the balance of the game. I honestly don't think there's anything wrong with the balance. If I have it, I'll fill the order...if I don't, I'll send it away. It's a simple strategy I play by and it causes way less stress. That's the beauty of this game...the freedom of choice. We aren't forced to do anything we don't want to do and there's absolutely no requirement to do so.

I guess I'm a loyalist and try to see things half full. Will tweaking it to make the boat, truck, town orders easier to complete really be the solution? Maybe this will be the fix that is needed to bring the sparkle back for some players...maybe it's not. I really don't know.

As Glademaid has said, games are suppose to be an escape from the real world. But when that game is causing more stress than relief, as much as it pains me to say...maybe that game really isn't worth playing anymore.

I still haven't found a game that is remotely comparable to HD....not even that game that starts with a "T". Trust me, I've been searching :)

I just think that adding the town, as great as it is, requires a change in the rest of the game. What used to be great to get for an event reward, isn't as great anymore. Just like a item that has little value in a crowd, increases in value when it is rare. Cream and sugar were already a challenge and increasing the demand for them with the town seems an unnecessary burden.

Eggs used to be everywhere. But when the sauce maker was introduced, the developers were brilliant in making mayo take so many eggs. Lemon curd was a little harder because of the butter, but not at all impossible. That machine is just brilliant. By comparison the coffee machine is garbage. At least the raspberry mocha redeems it a bit because you can use it to get mastery. So with the bad you get good and with the good you get bad. So I guess I would like it if the town with all it's possibilities could be the solution to so many of the products we have that get little use. It's a great place for pies,salads,sandwiches and crops. It could be so much better if it used more things like popcorn and muffins and less fish, cream and sugar. Those items alone are already in such demand. The bakery gets such a workout with bread for sandwiches and cookies in the town. So why does it also have to be so heavy on pizza instead of muffins. Just subbing muffins for pizza would be a big help because it would lighten the need for cheese. Fish and lobster soup are hard enough without needing tomato soup with its goat cheese and tomato juice. If the town asked for more apple and carrot juice and less tomato and cherry juice, things would lighten up just a bit. I never thought I'd have so much trouble with tomatoes.

The town was a really interesting addition, but it's clear that you can't do the town along with anything else - it's town OR anything else. Same here, I was so into the town when it first started. I played constantly and was intent on getting tools and serving everyone I could. I expanded my town to accommodate max townies, which is 36. I regret that now. It is so tedious getting everyone where they need to go. I will leave the townies wandering for a few days now. I just don't really care about the town as much as I used to. I want to be sure my neighbor has townies to pick up so I make sure and get some processed for her. But aside from that, there's no real aspiration to keep going with the town. Maybe if there was a new goal to work for maybe that would change. Maybe some new buildings at upper levels?

As far as events, they are each week. But why? They are the same old events rotated on a very predictable schedule. Who decided we need events each week? Maybe SC can offer new events we have not yet had and offer events themselves (whatever event it might be) less often. This way it won't be so predictable. I don't care for these same old events. I just look forward to the ones where we have to produce some item to make some global goal. Some new variety is what is needed in the event arena.

All in all, I have faith Supercell will add new exciting aspects on the next big update. They seem to be good about that and I assume they have noticed all of this. Maybe it will be a new building. Maybe we will get new events. Maybe both. Maybe something else new. Whatever it is, I will play as I have been and I will look forward to the next big update announcement.

Thank you to all those who have said nice things about my posts in this thread. ��. Here's a thought: I would much rather receive 5 feta cheese, or even 5 cream, as a reward for meeting a global event goal then 5 mallets or 5 TNT. That would really have me dancing for joy!

I agree - they have demonstrated many times in the past that they DO listen to their customers/players. The town is still newish, and I like to think the developers have been busy behind the scenes creating new goodies/building(s)/processes for the next update. It's their own fault for making such an addictive fantastic game! :)

I was thinking about that just this afternoon. Wouldn't it be WONDERFUL to receive feta cheese as a prize? Or heck, ANY dairy item or sugar item! I would break all speed records trying to complete those event goals!!
