I may not be that excited about boat events lately, but at least this one seems like it is doable. Unlike the last one, I've actually had some fillable boats this round. The toughest so far is the boat coming in about 4 hours...tomatoes, sushi, and cotton fabric. My last boat was carrots, sugarcane and salad.

I did see a whole lot of butter flagged from my neighbors, so I suspect I'll get a butter boat this evening or tomorrow, lol, which will get sent away, but in a week's time, it at least SEEMS like I would be able to fill 12 boats.

Donna, the last boating event asked for 32 million boats filled, this one is asking for 38, so I guess that's why they're giving us a week to "git 'er done."

I was SHOCKED when I saw the new event last night and then had a rush of disappointment when I discovered it was a boating event; however, being the general optimist I am, I thought "aha, it must be a double voucher boat. Or cool prizes. Or a decoration as the final prize." Imagine my further disappointment to receive two axes for the first goal prize, a SINGLE purple voucher, and then a goat cheese boat on the heels of that one. Oh, and then seeing that the final prize will be 5 whole diamonds. What a complete and utter letdown. Guess what - I won't be going for any more of them. My daughter has yet to fill a boat because all of hers have so far been dairy boats so she doesn't even know what her "exciting" first prize will be.

It's so nice to see Velcro, lexyboo and Ecko back who have been MIA for a while, but I'm joining their ranks. I've cut down playing the game in a big way, only picking it up in the morning (not first thing) and putting it down earlier in the evening (not last thing) and only once or twice in the day. The farm is basically on auto pilot for a while. This is the kind of decline that signals the end of interest in a game. At least it does for me. I don't fall out of love like THAT, it'll be gradual until one day I'll think, "meh, I'll do it later." And then just not get back to it.

This boating event was a real eye-opener. Almost like a slap in the face right on the heels of the truck event.

Oh, and I'd dance a jig out in the street if I received 10 dairy items from the wheel! And LOBSTER!! I don't think there's a lobster pool owner out there who wouldn't appreciate some free lobster, is there?

Actually you don't need a big tackle box to achieve max personal goal in fishing events at all. The most lures I ever have in my tackle box is 2, and that's when I don't have available fishing spot at the moment. Also I have only 5 slots on my lure machine, so not so much lure stacking around when I wake up each day. I never upgrade tackle box because it's never even 30% full. The secret of fishing event is to fish only the "special fish" during that time. The monster fish weight at least 10lb, whereas normal fishes weight around 3lb on average, so there goes the differenece. I usually can reach max prize before Sunday noon. All you need is green lures (red will also work but it takes a lot more time), and guess what's even better? You only need 4-5 fishing spots to work on, so you don't need to sacrifce lobsters! :D

I felt the same, Shealie. It's almost as if SC is thumbing their noses and waggling their fingers at us, if you understand that gesture. My boat will sit gathering cobwebs and then depart without even so much as a waved handkerchief. :(

I see what you're saying, Ying Ying. I wasn't even thinking about getting the biggest fish in the shortest amount of time. I was more focused on using red lures, in which case one would need a large tackle box to hold all the lures that catch those much smaller fish. Your method is a good one. As for me personally, I love the fishing event because, more than the prizes, I love having so much fish in my barn at the end exactly because I catch the smaller fish and have to catch a lot of them to get those prizes. The 10's of fish are the lovely by product. :)

As for boats being easier after the last boating event, I agreed until this event started. I've actually been filling boats again for the most part this past week, but now my next boat wants jam. I won't fill it. My first 7 boats wanted jam in the last event, then I had one I could fill, then the next two also wanted jam. 9 boats out of the first 10 were jam boats, and I wound up filling only four boats in the entire event. My daughter has had 3 goat cheese boats in a row during this event. Wow, SC's really doing a number on us here. And it's not appreciated.

Actually you can use red lures to catch monster fish too, so even if you don't use any green, you still don't need a large tackle box :o The Red-tailed Catfish will bite on red lures, but because red is not it's primary lure, and it's the only monster fish among all 6 types that takes red, so you will need a lot catch-release-catch-release until the right fish is on your hook. That's why I said it takes a lot more time. Green is much better since half of the monsters will take green. I usually can find one with my 5-8th try :)

One thing I don't like to fish small ones is that it will use all fishing spots, which means no lobster "income" for a few days. Well, of course you can restock fast with all the nets you made during these days, but it would mess my "production pace" (if you get what I mean) :rolleyes: Also, monsters are only available during events, so if you are interested in completing your fishbook, that's the only time. I would say it's one stone for 2 birds :o

I know lots of people hate fishing so possibly the only time they get lots of fishes is during these events. I don't mind fishing and fish daily whenever my lure is ready, so there is no impact on my fish stock at all (thought the additional fish products on DD is a nice plus). However, since monster fish weight 3-5 times more than regular fish, I wonder why we cannot get TWO filliets when fishing those ones! Well, too much wishful thinking I guess :P

Also remember that the Red Tailed Catfish only lives in area 9 (swamp area), so even if you should bother going through the trouble of catching one on a red lure (which is, as you say, not really worth the hassle) you'd still need green lures for the other fishing areas if you want to catch event-fish.

That statement was posted by a player in another thread, & it causes me to wonder if there is more to our perceptions of the recent changes in HD than just a sudden onset of player apathy or disillusionment.

For instance, in this thread alone, there have been multiple posts describing how boat orders seem to have become more difficult due to amounts requested or items being duplicated in consecutive boats. During the last boating event, 9 of 12 orders I got had duplicate items. Shealie had 9 of 11 jam boats in a row. HogFan had 7 consecutive juice boats. GladeMaid, in my NH, kept getting consecutive salad boats.

Now, a fresh event has started, & the first 3 boats I get are (1)bacon toast, cream, berry juice, (2)bacon toast, tomato juice, fruit smoothie, (3)tomato juice, chocolate ice cream, white sugar...3 boats, duplicate items on 2, & 2 asking for high demand products. I don't care what statistics say, out of a 119 item pool with 3 different sets of crates to be filled, that's 273,819 potential combinations WITHOUT any duplicates. (I checked the math just to be sure.)

So with that amount of different orders which could be generated, why are there repetitive cases of duplicate items? Is there some programming or coding that kicks in during events which is designed to make goals less achievable as suggested previously? An unmet global event means no millions of diamonds paid out, yet hundred of thousands, perhaps even millions taken in from all the hard core spenders who sit atop the leaders boards & from those who spend their precious few to call a fresh boat early in the hope of getting a decent one to be able to meet their personal goals.

Further, there have also been comments regarding the reduction of free in-game diamonds from mystery chests & mining. Once with a good day of treasure hunting, a player could net 15 daily from chests. No longer. I personally havent gotten a free chest of diamonds in over a week, however in the same time frame, I have found 7 gold vouchers which are normally as rare as hens' teeth. Vouchers cost nothing to generate, & are only good for purchasing decor & pets, but giving away free diamonds on the other hand is money walking out the door.

Stacking ore used to have no limits, meaning that as long as a player had the tools, they could mine til their heart's content & could count on a steady supply of diamonds. Now that unlimited stacking has gone by the wayside, the flow of diamonds from that source has been substantially slowed. Comments in other threads discuss how the ratio of diamond per tool seems to have been altered as well. Is this another case of watching the bottom line?

Lastly, I've also seen recent discussion of how players who once got plenty of saws & axes are now finding themselves having to spend diamonds on Tom to fetch them, & I don't think it has anything to do with the fact that they're suddenly planting more trees than they once did. Less free tools being dropped means more diamonds spent to acquire them.

Can it really be that the squeeze HD players are feeling is the result of corporate penny counters fretting over the bottom line?

I haven't seen a decoration for a final prize in a long time. at first it came pretty quick, now nothing for 6 months....

pretty soon it will be time again to get a 'second' one of the same decoration
