This is your post from that thread. I read that thread a while back already, but I didnt reply. Since you pointed it out, i will gladly do an investigation.

So 12 items in 4 boats, with 2 replicates. There are 119 items that can be asked in boat. so the odd of getting 2 replicates is: 10/119 * 9/119 * 11*10/2 combinations = 34.95%. one-third chance, that must be really rare.

And you are funny. Talk about ingredients? We all know crops/cream/sugar are the ingredients for major products, is that new? And you sound like tomatoes is very hard to find in news? I almost never plant mines. And its never really hard to find either.

Also, ask for help does exist. If you count flagging 3 crates on each boat its like:

So, 80 rice, 8 shep pies (sometimes found in news), 2 pizza, 6 cheese, 80 pumpkins, 4 tomato soup, 32-40 tomatoes for 3 out of 4 boats. That doesnt sound too bad either.

I made the mistake of filling a syrup boat last week. I thought, well, I don't use syrup that much, the other ingredients are easy, and I don't get to fill boats often, so why not? Turned out to be a big mistake. I shortly after ended up blowing through my modest apple pie supply and had to make more, which take syrup. Due to the long production time on syrup + needing to make sugars it took me about 2-3 days to replenish the boat supply, which was 9-12 syrups, I forget. I won't be doing that anymore. :P

I suppose I could have flagged them for help, but I feel like such a jerk flagging dairy or sugar products. Plus, I know the boat will likely just sit there forever without being filled.

P♥♥♥mk2001, in the interest of saving space, I'm not going to quote your quotes of my quotes as we both tend to reply at length, so for expediency's sake, lets call this Rebuttal - Part I. :)

Apparently we're at odds in understanding one another's views. I don't believe I've ignored any parts of your previous post, but rather addressed each of its points individually, and having re-read the thread in its entirety, perhaps you can direct me to the specific posts which call for making boat orders harder. I must have missed them, since all I've read supports making orders less difficult.

I cannot speak as to what type of data collection arrangements you have with your friend, but lets go with the numbers you've supplied. First, you stated she does 100+ boats a day, but only have two weeks worth of frequency data from her 737 boats, which is about half of what you initially represented her doing, a rather large discrepancy. Exaggeration doesn't tend to lend credence to any debate.

As you said, the 18-19 item frequency range should be the expected average, yet your own data indicates a low of 7 & a high of 31, which means some items are asked for as little as less than one half the average & some at not quite double the rate of the average. Is this not evidence of exactly what has been discussed to this point? Some items are asked for more frequently, some less, be they roasted tomatoes or not.

As far as the question of soy sauces, no, I am not incorrect. Let me clarify. When I said we no longer get requests for "12 crates" of sauces, I literally meant 12 crates, as is 12 crates x 3 - 4 sauces, for a total of 36 - 48, not the 3x3 (9), 3x4 (12), or 4x3 (12) you have knowledge of. This change in amount occurred prior to your beginning to play if I'm not mistaken, so it's not surprising you're unfamiliar with that fact. Others will support my statement & I do believe there is actually a screenshot somewhere on the forum which will prove it undoubtably.

I've previously stated I'm not a diamond spender, but appreciate those who are. Your friend's method of playing allows me to play as I wish, and we're in agreement that the manner of how another farmer plays their game is no one else's business.

I like a challenge as much as the next, but the whole premise of this thread was to question why event goals aren't being achieved with the regularity they once were. Many thoughts & opinions have been expressed on the topic, & it seems that the majority point to the introduction of the town as being a key factor underlying the string of unmet goals. Goods previously available for boat & truck orders are being consumed by the town, without an offsetting adjustment or reduction in other aspects of game play. Indeed, as you pointed out, one event goal went up!

I'm not looking for the game to be made so easy that it becomes so boringly simplistic that my dog could play & get all the achievements, but I would hope that the playing field should be leveled a bit more realistically & fairly, so that I do not have to ignore whole parts of the game merely to keep up.

I delete friends to keep my list short, and i delete followers to prevent them hijack my trades. So most of my crates are filled by random users from news. And if the other items are easy, flagging 3 crates of lets say 12 brown sugar/11 cream generally takes less than 3 hours for me to get filled (so better than cast off and get another new boat), provided that you keep putting ads in shop for every 5 minutes. Best aded items before town is loom items at max price, these days after the cotton update, I would say its best to put max price wheat/egg/chaps. The key is to fill your shop with ads that wont be easily cleared. and as long as you keep numerous ads in shop (generally 5-7 ads in 21 slots for me), i can get my crates filled within 30 minutes (dairy/sugar: generally less than 3 hours)

Yes, about 2 weeks, maybe around 12 days i believe. 100+ boats daily is the general number. But shes low on diamond and called a lot less in 2-3 days. also before the 4th day, I only take the data from the boat without telling her, so she actually started helping a bit later than that. so the number is 737 boats. it is still a way bigger data pool than all of those in that thread combined.

Of course, in the data point, some are asked more and some less. But you really seem to lack the knowledge of statistics. Go find a book about normal distribution and then you should have an idea of what point i m raising. I am not going to waste time here giving a statistics lesson.

My, my, but this is all becoming intense with statistics flying every which way. I have never been one to record every little thing that happens, so I can't play the stats game with you, but I will say that since the boat event ended, every single one of my boats has been easy peasy, and I have completed almost every single one one unaided, whereas during the boat event, I cast off a number of boats because they were back to back sugar or cocoa-based product boats (ice cream, jam raw cocoa etc etc)

So, the event boats were, in my humble opinion "adjusted" to be harder to complete, and as a result, the goals were harder to achieve, and the rewards were totally unimpressive for the difficulty of the boats. I firmly believe that is why players demonstrated their apathy for the boat event by not "going all out" to reach the global goal. My own apathy extended to not even checking the required total once, and not even noticing we hadn't achieved it until I started reading this thread. Basically I was not the least bit interested in the boat event, just as I am not the least bit interested in this current truck event. I would rather conserve my products than chase coins i do not need.

I think it depends on how many boat you did a day. and the general feeling.

For me, out of the 119 boat items, the 14 crops, 8 fruits, 5 animal products, bread+cornbread+2 muffins, 3 popcorns (not buttered), 4 BBQ products, 4 pies, 7 loom+sewing, 3 cakes and 2 smoothies are very managable. And there are some borderline case such as coffees and BLT salad. So, out of 119 items, 54 items are easily found in news/grown by myself, and like 10-15 more with just a little difficulty. What I mean here is that, about half of the items should be managable. And considering your barn usually has a few of each of those prem items, are boats really that hard to complete? Of course, from this ratio, about every 8 to 10 boats, you could get asked 3 difficult items in the same boat. And thats roughly the ratio of boat that I will cast away myself. But as you level up, you unlock more items and boat asks for more of the same item, and this should be expected. Does it really mean SC makes the boat harder and asks for more premium products? I just feel sick when a few users keep hypothesizing this up.

For me, I have never seen an event other than the item collection, boat, truck and fishing, which means not the carrot one. When town just releases, i was hoping for a town event, but considering how town is run these days, I d rather not. However, I do really hope they bring a weather event, during which 1/2 of the crops go famine (no xp/1 crop harvested), 1/2 of the crops is well-grown (double xp/3 crops harvested). I think it would add a little challenge for crops required in machines/boats.

Other than that, a charity event will be interesting too. High level players donate the no-use tools like the item collection event. You could get coin/xp for that. And equivalent amounts of the tools will be put on sale on Gregs shop after that. But the system could be the problem. Just an idea anyway.

For me, the events have been repeated since I started playing, so it didnt really make a difference for me. And for event rewards, anything is bonus, so I dont care really much. I do feel better when i get purple/gold vouchers as rewards. Anything other than that is kinda meaningless to me.

OK, here's Part II...

Since you singled out my post on that thread to scrutinize, then let's look at it by all means.

Now, I'm not a professional mathematician, so perhaps if you could clarify how you arrived at the odds calculations a bit more, I might be more inclined to concede their validity. 119 items are available to be requested...got that...but you sort of lost me on the 10, 9, 11 & asterisks thing. At any rate, an approximate one third chance of being asked for duplicate items doesn't sound bad in theory, but when you keep getting zapped by that 1/3 chance, any sense of fair odds go out the window. After multiple consecutive boats asking for the same items (I wasn't the only one in that thread that experienced that rare phenomena...look at HogFan's posts too), I begin to wish I had the same sort of luck at the lottery...oh, wait, I do! ;)

Of course, we both know premium products consist of other basic products, and you're right, it's nothing new, yet I fail to see how being dismissive of the underlying point addresses the issues raised in that thread or that particular post, which was the repetitiveness of duplicate items or items using similarly based products, i.e., the 40 cheese or cheese related products on 4 consecutive boats.

Those 4 boats depleted my entire stock of cheese, & at 51 minutes in a fully mastered dairy to produce, that's 32 hours of uninterrupted production to replenish. Where does the time to produce to produce butter, cream, & feta get squeezed in that schedule? The entire point is that if some items were not asked for as frequently as others, managing & sustaining an equitable supply of the full complement of available products would not be as frustratingly difficult as it seems to become of late. A boat of B&E & wooly hats somewhere in between would have had me cheering!

Since my barn is of decent size, I don't normally have problems with filling any raw crop orders, but tomatoes are another high demand item because they're an ingredient in other products, but have a long grow time, so it's another instance of supply vs. demand. As for their availability in the DD, I don't know if you're aware that players receive individualized copies of the paper, so what may be plentiful in yours isn't necessarily what's on every page in mine, so that rather negates your assertion they're so easy to pick up.

Conversely, I could have dedicated all my fields to growing tomatoes, but then that avenue takes remaining crop production out of the picture for 6 hours. If I should wish to continue production of other crop related items, I would have to resort to using stored reserves or purchasing the ingredients. Since I have a barn & silo which has a capacity of less than half of yours, I'm pretty sure I could go through my meager stockpiles in 6 hours time of making bread, feed, & other sundries.

Please allow me to anticipate your response to that statement. I can always buy my ingredients from the DD. Yes, I can, but I also sell raw crops, so buying at max or a few coins under doesn't allow me to resell & make the profit I would realize by producing those goods myself. Losing money is not the goal of the game. I'm not in the habit of seeing my bank balance decline unless I purchase a new machine, decor, or trees & bushes to replace ones no longer producing.

Good management, self-sufficiency, & sustainability are the keys to my game, & it is the latter two which I find increasingly difficult to maintain since the introduction of the town, & calls into question the first. If the only solution is to forgo supplying the town, or stop doing as many boats or trucks as I can, or quit helping friends & neighbors as often merely to maintain some semblance of former play, then that isn't normal, because I was able to do all those things before, and that has been my point from the start. I don't mind having to make some adjustments to accommodate changes, but it bugs me mightily that I have to reduce or consciously ignore entire aspects of the game just to do what I was able to do once without neglecting any portion of play.

Lastly, for the record, as a rule, I rarely ask for help. It has to do with a sense of personal achievement, & I think to ask my friends & neighbors for sugar/dairy/seafood items both unfair & in poor form because I know those items are equally valuable & as needed to them as they are to me. That sort of undue burden is one reason I don't fill those types of requests myself, but we're not here to discuss the details of how we play, just why the way we once played is no longer sufficient to achieve event goals any longer.

1. From a psychological point, I do think only ppl who had unfortunes like to voice their unfortunes. Like I said, I read that post before you mentioned that, but I didnt reply. So do we have to make a poll on how many ppl read that, and how many ppl posted about their bad boats?

In fact, I got easy boats during the event. But should i post it during that time? It would be like pouring salts on the wounds of others.

2. 12 items from 119. 2 common items. so you have 10 items from the 119, then 10/119 and 9/119 to be the first and second common items out of the 10 possible. and 10*11/2 is the combination numbers. Reviewing it a bit, I had to say it is a rough estimation, the true combination number should be about 2-third, which means the odds is more like one-fourth. This is because I forgot to take into account the boat wont ask the same items in the same boat. But I d rather not post the whole calculation here since you already had problem understanding the 9, 10 and 11.

3. I think one of the differences we had is the way we play. Like i mentioned in a post you havent replied/read yet, I can advertise and get my dairy/sugar filled by random ppl in news (not friends/followers). And its not just dairy and sugar, the same applies to other prem items. So the way you play mean you have to cast away more boats, and more easily affected by town. All i feel now is sympathy.

4. I m aware of the news. But does it matter? I do wheating and browse news in-between to buy/refill items the whole day. When you play long enough, your news will even out. Of course, it is your choice of growing tomatoes yourself for 6h and maybe sell them for 432 coins per 10 when you have extra. But you have to know, easy-to-sell crops like corn and carrots are 5/10 minutes to grow and sold for 72 per 10. So buying high level crops is just the easier choice. When you really try to find them, tomatoes arent that hard to be found. I can get like 150 in news within an hour or two without trouble. In fact, the only high level crops that I really have to grow myself is rice (less now since sushi bar mastery) and lettuce. I just buy and keep around 50 of all other crops.

No need to get so testy or cop an attitude. I've not stooped to such nor made any implications regarding your intelligence or education as you have mine, so let's avoid that sort of discourse before the mods decide this thread is becoming a mud pit & close it, shall we?:) I think our debate over our mutual views has been illuminating.

Thank you for pointing out post # 6. I can see where it could be interpreted as a call for easier boats, although I read it more in the light of an observational statement. That poster perceived, that for her at least, boat orders are more difficult due to the frequency of premium items being asked for as opposed to items more readily available or easily produced, a contention which seems rampant in this thread despite what compiled data from two players represent.

Not looking to divert the focus at all, just merely quoting another poster's statement, much as you have, to support my viewpoint. When purchasing power is unlimited, then so is the ability to fulfill any order, regardless of whether other players lend aid or not. Why worry if an item takes 8 hours to make? It can be bought immediately with diamonds, ergo where is the challenge? Another case of agree to disagree, shall we?

Dare I hypothesize the ease in how you perceive orders may be tied to your barn size? I confess to not knowing many players (at least on the forum) who can claim a like accomplishment. Not saying you don't have the same difficulties of having space tied up with EMs & tools as we all do, but if similar ratios hold true, then what you regard as a normal level of items is likely near the upper limits of what many others consider as just adequate. At one time there was a thread on here about the number of barn items players had. A few posters with large barns had cheeses, sugars, & fish goods in the triple digit range, so for those fortunate few, I should imagine consecutive orders with duplicate items wouldn't raise as much of a concern as it does for those who struggle just to keep 10-20 of the same in theirs.
