"It's a part of the game." is another way for people to say that it is working as designed. Working as designed implies that SC has looked at the current situation (DE has been out a long time) and is happy with how it works.

They have also indicated that there are no plans to change it at this time which further boosts that particular argument.

How do you figure read your on post this game has UPDATES the lightning spell is still here right??? MEANING ITS A PART OF THE GAME... Secondly I will reply to whichever post i want and speak my mind, you cant have a good debate without people speaking thier mind... But as youcan see from the hundreds maybe even thousands post complaining about de zapping the lightning spell hasn't gone anywhere and IS still a part of the game so until they nerf it or (god forbid) they add lightning rods or rubber umbrellas this is i viable part of the game

Correct, but people in higher leagues generally care about their trophy count. Zapping is a very poor use of spell slots for people who care about such things. Furthermore DE is a lot more readily available to these folks which makes lightning a DE storage a relatively poor resource investment.

Thus, while nothing prevents them from doing so, it's generally not in their best interest to do so. This provides a fair amount of upward pressure for higher THs interested in saving DE. As such, it's highly unlikely SC will do anything about it because it's actually a good thing for the game.

Basically it is supposed to annoy you. That is the point. It keeps high THs from being comfortable in low leagues.

Working as designed doesn't mean anything. Look at the initial witches, hogs or heroes. Witches produced skeletons as designed but then they were nerfed, hogs jumped over walls and targeted defences (after a series of initial buffs) as designed but then they were nerfed too. Heroes had high stats as designed but then they were also changed. Saying that its working how you perceive it to be designed doesn't mean anything either, its another redundant statement.

They may have said that they don't plan on changing the lightning spell for now however they have made several changes which inevitably mitigate it in some way or another, so you cant claim that they are doing nothing.

They reduced the amount that can be taken by increasing de storage hp, they took away loot bonus for raiding higher ths, they increased de at lower levels so th7/8s can now raid each other for de rather than zap higher levels which again makes it less profitable to use lightning spells.

Once we establish that they are trying to dis-incentivise it, but are reluctant to do anything more extreme these ideas make a lot more sense. This is because despite various things which should make zapping less popular it is still an on-going concern for many people, seeing this, it isn't completely unrealistic for SC to do something more extreme about it.

Which actually again, reinforces the above argument. They have made small incremental changes to the existing mechanic as opposed to obvious ones that could be made to eliminate it.

Since zapping is still strong, and they are making 'small incremental changes' it only follows that they may continue to make changes which is what people want. At the moment I can sit in m3 as a new th10 with one inferno and still lose more to lightning spells than storage raids. If they continue to make changes that make zapping de less profitable then everyone would be happy, except for all the th7/8 on this thread that only support it because they benefit from it.

Zapping does not provide much if any upward pressure. No one in their right mind would go up just to avoid getting zapped. Most people decide what league to be in based on what loot they can get with little regard for how they do on defence, as they should be aiming to make much more than they can potentially lose. The only people this doesn't apply to is those that don't raid so much and possibly rely on drills for de. Someone like this will lose more if they go up to storage raids so when comparing it to being zapped they still have no reason to go up. So again, there is not much upward pressure at all. The thing that provides upward pressure is and has always been loot penalty and now the high loot bonus.

In regards to some form of 'justice' to people who get raided by higher ths, that's the nature of the game, there is intentionally a low loot penalty for one th below and high loot penalty for two th below. Another thing which seems to be completely intentional is how it is entirely possible to raid someone one th above you if you create a high tier army, so it is false to claim that there is nothing else that lower ths could do to revenge.

Dude, let them lightning your de. Just revenged them with a full army and make them sorry they ever found your base xD
