I want to suggest that dark elixir storages should not be stolen that much when using only lightning spells but only by attacking it with troops, a lot of people attack with just 4 spells on the elixir storage taking out a lot of them.

There was a tweak to the dark elixer storage hitpoints that for the most part has made these lightning attacks almost worthless, other spells are far more useful to make now, and to be honest.. always were. Perhaps you should consider upgrading your dark elixer storage to help combat the attack, it really makes a huge difference if you havent already.
I find it ok, the only time I ever use lightning spells on dark elixir storage is for revenge attacks, because if their lootable dark elixir is worth lightning-ing then they are too strong and I'm afraid of their revenge attack.
Its time for a defensive spell. Why can't we cook up 3 x Protect spell and then use them on our own DE storage?
As a quick example they could last 4 hours each so 3 spells gets you through 12 hours - enough to get a good peaceful nights sleep for a change :-)
It only works against lightning though. So troops can still manually steal your stuff.
I absolutely agree with this, it is very frustrating but maybe I am at too low trophy level and therefore unable to find people with DE enough. I'm around 1300 trophies and people just use 3-4 lightning spells on me taking 1000+ dark elixir but I rarely see anyone with more than 500 DE myself. It happens several times per day and I am finding myself stuck at one place (around 23-25k DE). This puts me off spending any more money on a game that is designed to work against me and force me to use real money to advance.
The lightning spells should be reduced to take 1/10 or less of the DE they can currently steal. They should be a supplement to your full scale attacks and not a cheap "snatch and run" function. IMHO it is a huge flaw and works against the game title itself, "CLASH of clans". What's clashing? Lightning spells? If they could fight each other it would at least fit. Please consider adjustments to the lightning spells ability to steal resources, mainly DE.
I normally wouldnt be against ppl being stupid enough to waste 80k gold to get 1k dark elix.

Weve earned all our upgrades, whether through time or money. But it doesnt matter if we're lv 50 or 5000. It doesnt matter how long weve spent on our base. 4 lightning spells ruins our dark elix amount.
Gypceros, what level are you? You obviously have to be TH8+ as you're holding more than the 20k DE limit of TH7 storage. Lets be honest, what are you still doing down at 1,300 trophies? Are you preying on easy TH7s for 200/200k?
I'm currently a very near maxed TH7 and have been hovering around 1,400 to 1,600 stealing DE from TH8s and TH9s to get my BK to level 5, Minions and Hog Riders to level 2, before moving to TH8. The amount of super powerful TH8s and TH9s at this range is ridiculous and I cannot understand why they are still there.
Surely if you move up to an appropriate level then you won't get hit with lightnings. Especially with the new league system.
If I have 3 lightnings ready and come across a TH9 with between 2 to 3k of DE at my low level you can bet you're going to get zapped. What other options do we have at TH7? Or if you have an easy TH then i'll place 6 archers on it and finally blow my whole army trying to get the 800+ DE. A fair swap in my mind as DE is all I need.
Anyway, i'm happy to give up 100k/100k/250 DE for a 3 star 16 hour shield when these guys get ♥♥♥♥♥♥ off. :D
I already suggested the protection spell below so happy if they bring this in, especially with the reduced spell time.
I just hit lvl 79 and I have TH9 which I got yesterday. I have been farming at the 1200 mark, mostly on those who quit and only have gold&elixir in their mines/collectors. I spent money on getting builders and to speed up the 4 days left of TH9. Other than that I have farmed everything through battles so I can't say it goes any fast. At my lower levels I got farmed by higher levels too but I got used to it after a while. It was not so hard to get the mines and collectors up, just had to wait for the upgrades. The DE is another story though, way slower. At least that is my experience so far.
My BK is lvl 6, and I am now trying to get AQ. Also trying to move up a bit on the ladder since the TH9. The league system is a joke though in my opinion. I like your idea of protective spells, though I still think they need to do something about the snatch and run with lightning spells. I am not suggesting lowering the loot percentage of DE on a regular attack, just adjustments to how much DE you can take using spells only. It should not be worth it.
Defensive spells are in my opinion a stupid idea. Just implement lightning rod upgrades for buildings, with a certain max number per th level and each rod eating say two lightning strikes (but only the part that lands on that building) Just to deter people from spamming storages so much.
They changed it a little so they don't get dark elixir unless they completely destroy it. At least that's what happens when I attack. It gives all the dark elixir to me once the storage is knocked down. 4 lightning spells might be able to destroy a level1 storage, but if you only have level 1 storage you shouldn't be getting raided by someone with a level 4 spell factory!
