To clear this thread up, it isn't. The stats take a while to update after a season reset (mine took 45 minutes).
Since this thread was started he has won another defence win... And if you look at his base...
I think what we should really be looking at, is that he is a Champion with 143 levels, and still hasn't received the gems for 100 million loot...

It kind of does... generally to get to champs I would assume you would need a strong base and a strong army. Both of which are acquired by loot.
