It depends on your town hall level. If you are th7 or below, go for it, it works great. I have never tried it at th8 because of the loot penalty, but I did it at th7 and it worked wonders for me.
I did it for a day, worst thing ever. People kept lightning my dark elixr and I would gain 200 cups, which was super annoying since it took forever to drop down. So, of course, i three starred them and took all THEIR dark elixr. Muhahah
I tried this about a month ago, I am a TH-8 (about to go to TH-9)....... here is what I have to share.
- It is actually difficult to get below 200..... once you drop to about 250 cups, every map after that you only lose a max of 4 cups. As you approach 200, some maps you will only lose 2 cups. :confused:
- If you are off the game for a few minutes (between army build or other) you could go up 50+ cups real fast.
- There is some amazing loot down there, but the best ones were TH-9 and TH-10 (rightly soo) and their defense too strong for me.
- Finally, on a positive note...... when you are done with this Sub-200 farm.... just log off for 1 day, when you come back, you will probably be UP 200+ cups! :cool: (BTW - that is a lot of Defense Wins!)
So if you ask me..... find a sweet spot to farm gold and use that.

At townhall 7 it was amazing for me.
Now at th8, it's terrible. Don't do it above th8, th6 or 7 is ideal.
best thing to do my opion push as far as you possibly can. Than barch farm back down 300-400 cups than push back up easy fast minerals. more advice check out my tip tutorial bro

not sure why people are saying th7 below or worst thing ever. im farming down here now with no problems as a th8. a th9 in my clan was down here too. hes been finding 600k. i've been finding 400-500k. the thing is not to focus only on grinding on the lower inactives, but to farm the farmers. people come down to farm and have have bad bases. ruin their day by destroying all their storages and dont give them a shield
I think you shouldn't try it... If you want ton of loot, just go to master league or champion league if you can. Btw, in champion you can get 500k per battle easily since most of them put their storages outside.
