Calculating trophies when attacking a base

How does Coc calculate how many trophies you will gain or lose when attacking a base. Some hard bases are worth 13 trophies while easier bases are worth 19. I DONT UNDERSTAND THIS.

Im not looking for any ideas about how it works, I want an absolute answer. No guessing.

The strength of the base that your attacking has no relevance to trophies, the trophies that you can win or lose are determined by the amount of trophies that the attacker/defender has in relation to you. i.e. If the base your looking to attack has more trophies than you, you will be able to win more and lose less trophies. But if the base your looking to attack has less trophies than you, you will be able to gain less trophies from winning and potentially lose more trophies if you lose the battle
