New hero update bogus?

Today in my clan wars I was watching one of my guys do an attack on a TH9.
He had his BK placed on one side of the base and the AQ on the other. This base was spread out quite nicely so the two heroes were nowhere near to being close to each other.

My guy goes in with the hog attack from the kings side. King does little damage, takes out 2 or 3 hogs. No big deal but the next thing i see the king is way out on the other side by the queen????? Not even remotely close to his small radius. He followed the hogs all the way to the other side chopping them to pieces and once he got to the queen he turned around.

Now I thought the heros can't leave their radius.
Anyone else experience this? What would cause this?

I'm pretty sure he just targets a troop and follows it until it dies or gets killed. Then, he goes back to the radius

The only people complaining about this are mass hog users. Honestly, if they don't wat this to happen they should use anther attack strategy.

That is besides the point here
if he is not supposed to leave the radius then it should not matter what you use. The update didnt state that hogs are exempt from this now did it???

No, the radius is the trigger range, not the attack range. So while it won't attack until the enemy comes within the radius, it can follow the enemy troops to outside the circle. Before the update, once triggered, they would attack way outside the circle; now they won't do that.

This is similar to Hidden Tesla, which has a larger attack range than its indicated trigger range.

He cannot be lured out but if you activate him he will kill his target before retreating to his altar. Not to complicated.

Heroes are terrible. Guess we have to deal with it.

Supercell lied to us

It's basically a bug that wasn't intended.
