Do I go to town hall 9?

Yep... more than enough, even Lv.6 walls is enough... You can farm the lv.7 on TH9 because loot will comes easier on TH9.
I would agree If you don't plan to get at least lv.9/10 walls then lv.8 walls is useless
but try to get at least Lv.7 on TH9 because the golden/pink walls can be breached by single wall breakers and low lvl BK also cut it in no time.

anyway, tesla is not useless... maxed tesla is the second best defense in the game after inferno. Lv.6 tesla is the best you can get on TH8 and Lv.7 tesla is the best defense on TH9, They're more powerful than maxed xbows.

Tesla is not expensive, they're very affordable, they just takes too long to upgrade :cool:
