Why ever protect TH? Why penalize for successful defenses? Game flaw
I've now pretty much gone through the game where I'm about to reach Champion league and am finishing last few defense / town upgrades. At this point, I've tried and experimented with most combinations of attack units as well as town layouts.
One conclusion I have and give as advice to all others is this: For standard setup, the TH should be outside the base unprotected. Period.
Why would anyone put TH in center of base?
- TH outside of base is a chance at a free 12hr shield saving collector loot - essentially costs only a few trophies
- Save trophies - lose only 1 star, which you can make back with a single attack next time on. Do multiple attacks in a row and you come out ahead. This is the strategy me and many others used to go up to champs
- Save loot - the best way to save your loot is to make sure a single attack gives you shield. Making sure TH is destroyed is the easiest way - and with all the barchers, with TH outside, guaranteed storages in center of base are safe
- Worst scenario in the game is when you have numerous attacks on your base each taking loot, but failing to set shield, leaving your cc troop less, heroes dead, and defenses depleted, opens the door for an even bigger attack to center dark storage..
In conclusion - I can't think of a single reason why in the non-war setup anyone would ever place the TH in the center of town. Now if somehow everyone was smart, and everyone placed TH on outside, there's no more strategy as you could just bounce from TH hit to TH hit and profit from win bonuses, which is the new trend.. This is a flaw with current incentives.
So, the bonuses need to change. Players should be rewarded (with loot) for successful defenses, not penalized as they currently are.
