[Analysis] Should you buy a 1 week shield this week?

I contemplated doing this, and did the math and I see a lot of people asking this question so I thought I would share my results.

If you have lvl 11 collectors, your collectors will fill up with 150,000 (The Cap) resources every 25 hours. This is because their normal rate is 3000 per hour, and the boost is only 2x. 150,000/6000 = 25.

If you have lvl 10 collectors, your collectors will fill up with 100,000 resources every 20 hours. 100,000/2500 = 20

If you have a mix of lvl 11 and lvl 10 just calculate them individually.

6 Collectors * 150,000 = 900,000

So every 25 hours you'll have 900,000 of each resource if you have 6 lvl 11 collectors of each. This number is obviously different if you don't have all lvl 11 collectors.


Your boost will last 7 days and the shield will last 7 days. 168 Hours.

168/25 = 6.72

6.72*900,000 = 6,048,000


So basically, if you think you can farm more than 6million gold and elixir in a WEEK by raiding other people (which you should be able too) then don't buy a 1 week shield. IF you don't think you can farm that much gold and elixir this week, then yes buy the shield.

You've basically just said "Don't buy a shield at all" because you never factored in the gems that would be spent toward boosted barracks.

Uhhhh Why would I take into consideration a boosted barracks? You should be able to farm 6 mil of each resource in a week without boosting.

Assuming good loot then, it would not be worth it to shield up. Loot is normally sub par during the boost. In my experience anyway. Ive already shielded up. Th9

Even if loot is bad during this week it's not going to be so bad that you can't get 6million of each resource. I've already gotten 3 million today....

I'm banking on the fact that people boost thier collectors, not shield up, and get lazy collecting it.

That's a alot of loot you're missing out on if you shield up. I can make 6 mil regular farming in 2 days...easily.

That's what I was thinking. Collector raids are going to be dope come Sunday.

OP your argument is flawed. It assumes that you can either a) boost and buy a shield or b) don't boost and don't buy a shield. You've not considered c) boost and farm. Make your gold from boosting and make more from farming.

The two options I'm comparing are

A) boost your COLLECTORS and buy a shield

or

B) boost your collectors and don't buy a shield.

I'm not even considering that people are dumb enough not to boost their collectors (your option B).

Not buying a shield and boosting your Barracks would just make my conclusion to not buy a shield even more right.
