large range. From 1400-2000, for the highest concentration, though there are lots below and above this range still. Different days will produce different results. Experiment to see what works best for you.
I suggest starting at 1600, then move up or down.
Depending on your objectives and troop level, I'm also TH8 (maxed but for a few walls) and have been once more starving for a week on Crystal II attacking with archers, goblins and giants just for the fun and to test my defense with the revenges I suffer (often indeed). I stay leveled, bankrupt from gold and pink smoothie, but collect tons of hot cocoa! Attacking with golems combos and PEKKA combos now and then to heighten my skills. I call this my monthly bootcamp, and improves my attacking in war by a lot.
If you want the pink stuff, then you'll find it from Gold I to Gold III. Almost every base is upgrading the last defenses and gold is scarce and fiercely scavenged, but since their troops and camps are already maxed, strawberry shake is everywhere! Also, there are a lot of TH6-7 newbie wannababies that you can flat-out for fun! Good training for them.
But for gold, you have to dig lower, try Silver II or I. Watch out for the overgem-grown gold-starving TH10 predators down there!
