I think that no troops should be auto selected at the beginning of an attack because of that possibility of an accidental deployment when all you want to do is zoom out to view the whole base. It has happened to me a few times, and a few times I end up coming out of the fight with a 3-star win, other times I just drop out an eat the loss.
