Should i move to th9?

There is no such thing as upgrading your town hall for defense. Once you're TH9, you will be exposing yourself to TH10 armies. Xbow are not actually that great on defense (especially lvl 1 xbow with a puny 50 dmg), lvl 5 barch vs th7 is better than lvl 6 barch vs th8 as you don't need spells or heros as a TH8 to barch th7 while you do as TH9 while barching TH8. Either way he is going to harvest resource to upgrade his preme weapons, it makes a lot more sense to do it as a TH8 than 9. The only thing TH9 has over TH8 are much bigger DE drills x2. If all is weapons are max, and walls are decent, there is no need to max TH8 De troops as it is much easier done at TH9. As for armies, the big TH9 upgrades are giants and balloons. For many, giants and balloons are not farming units (as many uses barch), so once again upgrading to TH9 doesn't help with farming.

If I could go back in time, I'd max my walls. It would be safe to move up, that's almost how I was when I moved up. That's my opinion. I feel it's better in the long run to max walls, but if you move up now it will help get you to higher clans with those lvl6 troops, and higher leagues despite your defense, like master. But if you max those walls, life will be easier in TH9 if you plan to fully max your base even when you go to TH10, which definitely should not be rushed, which I'm sure you already know. Good luck whichever way you go.

Once you get L6 giants and the extra spell, you'll be feasting on TH8s. Until then, you'll have a semi tough time getting loot. If you do upgrade, be sure to have 6M gold and elixir ready to get 2 xbows, and upgrade your spell factory and lab. You'll be struggling without spells but only for 5 days.

It is like this: Which one is easier to defend? A near max TH8 against a TH9 attack, or a TH9 rocking half TH8/TH7 weapons with TH6 walls against a TH10. Like I said, there is no such thing as upgrading TH for defense, there will always be someone bigger to beat you down. The only exception would be a preme TH10 with twin IT, hanging around 1500 trophies. No TH7/8 and most 9 won't want to touch that, but good luck trying to farm enough resource as a TH10 with loot penalty to built up the rest of everything else.

Barch is more efficient than giants, and depending on spell will only slow down your farming income due to time to create spell.

Upgrade your Tesla, Walls.
Upgrade that tiny Archer tower too. The ADs will be fine at lvl 5, but I recommend you to finish it up to lvl 6.
