He's not as badly upgraded as I was so not really. It'd be easier to upgrade everything at lvl 7 first but it's not a huge mistake. I did it for lvl 5 troops extremely prematurely but it worked out fine. It's worth the upgrade for all the extra stuff you get tbf.
Personally, I think he's absolutely wrong. You shouldn't even bother with upgrading TH7 to TH8 if there is still 3-4 things to upgrade. With his base, there's gotta be at least 20 things he should still work on (4 levels for each of his 2 Air defenses, army camps to 6, Archer towers with level 5 archers on top of them, and doesn't look like those mortars are level 5?)
TH7 is the best TH to be in and you're a complete noob if you think barbarian king is worth the trouble for skipping TH7.
Sure he is making a mistake, but if he knows the consequences it is his mistake to make. Admittedly, the cool stuff at TH 8 amd especially TH 9 can be a little alluring, but actually rushing your TH to get it is very shortsighted. TH 8 isn't that bad though, and that is the worst TH rush in the world, so he won't ruin his game or anything. Oh well, just don't want to here any complaining.

If you know how to play the best thing to do is to upgrade asap to town hall 9
thats what i keep telling him but he tells me all he troops are lvl4 and his defence is strong
