Hello I've been watching all your videos about HoLoWiWi and I'm trying to apply it in our CW, I saw this CW base in our recent CW, is it advisable to use HoLoWiWi since 2 of his air def are part of the outside ring of defense? If yes, how?
The HoLoWiWi seems to be great for certain base designs. My clan had to take a break after the hog nerf to regroup. I am trying to put together a good strategy for common base designs. I watched all of your videos on GoHoWiWi and it seems like this works on bases with exterior defenses. I would love to see you refine the GoHoWiWi to be used on bases with internal defenses and compartments.
What do you think of starting it off like a normal GoWiPe but dropping a P.E.K.K.A or two and adding some hogs to be dropped on the opposite side of the entrance point?
I have tried hundreds of strategies and I have not found one that gets a constant 3 star like hogs used to. Exploiting different base designs seems to be the way to go but I would like a general strategy to work with.

Team Y.O.L.O did some interesting GoHoWiPe aginst us last week. I have still yet to study their attacks fully.
GoHo has its place, sadly I only get 2 attacks per war but I will be looking into it harder since we have so good holo GoLo guys in troopers now to pick up my slack.
Not sure if you've talked about it before, but how do you determine when to use goho, golo, or holowiwi? I'm having some good luck using holowiwi, basically the only strategy I can hit solid th9s with for 3*, but I'd like to start using the other variations and see how they work out.
GoHo is pretty easy because u cant take anything with loons. GoLo is for when you have a high level centered queen that you cannot get your kill squad into or when the aq is close to a AD and covers to much of the ring meaning you cant loon 40% of the ring.

Hulk, I am a huge fan of your work, and found a perfect holowiwi target so decided to try out this strategy for the first time (with level 4 hogs and without my queen). Unfortunately I couldn't 3 star it (got 86% and not enough time to cleanup the base).
Would you be able to check my raid and tell me what I did wrong and hopefully what I can do to improve it next time?
I think I messed up loons deployment and my witches died for no apparent reason.
Maybe the queen was important? cause with her I am sure it would have been 3 stars (my BK was still up with 1/2 hp).
Anyway, I can record the raid or if it is easier for you to come and check out the raid it would be awesome :D

Preface: I first learned of the holo strategy from Hulk's videos back when they were at war 50, since then I've gotten to the point where I can own any potential holo base, and have also nailed down goho as well.
Recently we had a war with another reddit clan, and after the war they posted to our sub asking how we were able to 3* so many of their bases. I took a little time and broke down my entire strategy on their #4 base which I 3 starred.
We pointed people in the direction of Hulk's youtube channel and once he found our thread he asked me if I'd post this here. Of course I couldn't deny the great Warlord!
This is my Holowiwi strategy broken down against their #4 base.
Here is the base I attacked:

I used:
- 20 lvl 6 loons
- 17 lvl 5 hogs
- 8 Wizards
- 5 Barbarians
- 2 Witches
- 2 Wallbreakers
- 2 Heals
- 1 Rage
- 1 Lightning
My goal is to trigger the CC troops as late as possible, so that my loons have enough time to do their job. I started at the west AT, and moved clockwise. To give you an idea of how many loons to use, I'll break down how many I used and why.
The west and east AT required 2 loons to take out because of the xbow coverage, otherwise it would have only taken 1.
The NW/NE WT & AT combos are a must go, because between the WT and Cannon is a Double Bomb threat. I almost always use 2 loons for WTs, whether they are lvl 6 or 7, because they are prime locations for air traps. When the AT is within range of the WT, I will always double drop loons in sync on each tower before dropping the second loon on the WT, this way the AT doesn't focus on the loons attacking the WT.
An AT only requires 1 loons if there isn't any additional coverage from the core defenses or another AT or Tesla, if you have multiple AT covering each other, this is when being able to multi drop in sync comes in handy.
In the case of viva's base, I knew at least one of the loons targeting the north ATs would make it through alive and take care of the northern cannon for me.
For both of the southern WT/AT combos, I opted for 2 loons each. There are multiple reasons behind this:
- WTs are prime locations for air traps, and I need these defenses gone because...
- There is a double bomb threat between the combo, and I can't have my hogs being incinerated.
- I wanted a loon or two to survive to take out the mortar. I could have dropped a loon on the motor itself to insure this, but, considering 1 & 2 I didn't want to take a chance of not taking out the double bomb threat.
So all in total, I counted 18 loons needed to take out the ring, and I always bring a couple extra in case I mess up because I'm human and it happens, and I better be damn sure I don't miss clearing a double bomb threat.
The next step is taking out the CC. This can be done two ways, a lightning spell, or your kill squad.
This changes for every base I attack, but lately we have been facing CCs with witches inside of them, and a lightning strike takes care of a witch better than your kill squad. Plus, using your kill squad to take out the CC troops can lead to disaster if you don't handle the AI correctly, and if you lose your kill squad you're chances of success plummet.
I've attacked viva's base before, it's pretty common thanks to clashofclansbuilder.com or the COC forums, so I knew I was only going to need 2 heal spells in the core for the hogs, so I went with a lightning strike.
Then, once the CC has been handled, it's time to break out the kill squad. Just be smart here, remember the goal is to take out the AQ because she can wreck your hogs even under a heal spell, so you're always going to drop them on the AQ side. Make sure your witches are far enough away that they can summon their skullies, and keep your wizzies behind them as well. I try using my BK to tank any left over defenses, because that's what he's good for.
From there I usually carry a couple wall breakers to help get to the AQ faster, but they were flung into space by a spring trap this time. Doh. That's ok though, because that's why you carry a rage.
I raged them through the walls and for a quick AQ kill, and once the AQ was engaged I launched the hogs from the opposite side, bouncing them into the core through the left over defenses far far away from the double bomb threats. I usually leave a defense alive for this very reason, because it's easier to control where the hogs go.
The defensive BK isn't really strong, and you'll usually only lose a couple hogs under his onslaught as long as you place your heals well. Once the core is destroyed, they usually turn on the BK and finish him off before moving on to their cleanup duties.
The end.
Special Notes
- Late th9s will sometimes need the hogs to be raged through the core due to the shear amount of damage their defenses can do and their massive HP. This is especially true if you are unable to take out the AQ. The quicker you're through the core, the more hogs you will have left alive to deal with the defensive heros and cleanup.
- I've always felt the key to this strategy is speed, because it's such a technical strike, if you go too slow you might not leave yourself enough time for your troops to cleanup.
- Utilizing multi-touch drops will mean you can use less loons since all the defenses will have their own targets to worry about instead of targeting loons going for another defense. This is good, because it gives you more hogs!
- If you mess up and leave defenses in the ring, drop your hogs from multiple spots so that they take them out then bounce into the core (as long as this doesn't lead them into a double bomb threat!!). Your goal is to have the hogs finish up the defenses in the core so that they a) take out the heros right away, and b) don't have to travel all over the place to take out miscellaneous defenses. This can lead to you missing a 3* simply due to time! And we all know how much a bummer a 2* is when it should have been a 3*.
- The key to handling teslas that pop up in the ring is to drop a loon on them as soon as they pop up and are distracted. Teslas attack fast and can take out a single loon before the loon takes them out. If the core is packed tight and you know there aren't any teslas there, make sure to count 4 extra loons for taking out the ring. You may even be able to have a solid guess as to where they are and can preemptively drop an extra loon to take care of them.
That's all I have for you, now it just takes practice to get comfortable with the strategy!

Big Question Guys: Given basic Th9 Max Gowipe/WiWi that usually 3 star other Th9s, With the upcoming increase in upping to stronger walls bc of exlier now, Will it lead to harder 3 stars and more 2 stars?
-Aka as walls increase more to lvl 10-11s will Gowipe/Wiwi for Th9 vs Th9 fail 3 staring now in CW??

It wont effect many wars for another 2-3 months. Then when people who would have farmed Lego's before going to TH10 are now staying to farm out the 2x faster Lava walls. The people who were happy to go to TH10 with skull walls will now stay going to TH10 with Lego walls.
It will progressively get harder and harder to Go* due to the standard of acceptable wall before upgrade is changed.
Again this is a 3+ month progress that wont effect current wars much.
PS. Lava walls rock in wars.

Dang, I gotta say, you opened my eyes with those attacks. I just used a similar attack (not on maxed TH10s, as I only have lvl18 heroes and freeze is only lvl1, plus I used witches instead of wizzies), but I 3 starred my 1st attack, and 99% on my 2nd (the AQ was 1 shot away from 100%, but ran out of time... grrrr).

Can't agree more. I always thought it's so easy after watching hulk's videos but we need lots of practice or else you will just waste your attacks in a war. One shouldn't hesitate to deploy all loons asap in the beginning or else holowiwi will bite u back with one to zero star
Yep, if you stall you lose. Happened to me 2 wars ago when I was streaming. Watching the videos later I realized I was talking the stream through my attacks instead of doing them like I normally would. Cost me easy 6 seconds both attacks and 99% 2 stars both times.

Hey Hulk whats up man, So was wondering noone uses gowiwi anymore, i mean like without pekkas or minimum gowiwi +1 pekka in cc. Whenever ppl do use Gowiwi or Gowiwi +1 pekka cc it seems to fail and only 2 star other th9s now. First I would like to say thanks for the HoLoWiWi idea, as a mid-TH9 it is my best chance of 3-star on fellow TH9 and I have indeed scored quite a few 3 stars with it.
For GoHoWiWi, it is a little less intuitive. HoLo depends on the 1-v-1 power of loons, taking DGBs out of the equation and then all the hogs finishing in the core to finish TH and AQ/BK - pretty intuitive where its leverage is from.
For GoHo, what would you say its power comes from? The golems don't exactly tank for the hogs. What is the ideal outcome for GoHo? The two golems each circle one side with their own DPS pack following behind, while 14-ish hogs core the base unsupported except with a heal or two?
Mostly right except the hogs are supported by (usually) witches, wiz, and possibly a barbarian king or archer queen (although I prefer the aq following a golem)
The strength in goho comes from the fact that your golems and main force don't get stuck in the core and have to break through at least 2 layers of walls (and trash) to get back out to the ring. Golems circling with a few wiz or archer queen can take almost all of the ring out while the core, cc, and enemy heroes are taken out by the hogs, witches, and wiz.
So the sequence would go:
1) Normal gowi- opening, separated golems with line of wiz
2) But do NOT break into core, wait till till they start to circle, add to dps pack as necessary
3) Hogs thru gap into core
4) While hogs are "tanking" the core, break thru to core with jump or WB from pt of original golem release, release a bit more dps (more witch than wiz now) into core
Is that right? Kinda the reverse of normal Gowiwi where you don;t want them to circle. Normal would be guaranteed 2 star, this is prob all or 1 star kinda deal?
You are on the right track but you want to have your witches and wiz start making their way into the core before your hogs start running in. If the royals and cc go for your hogs instead of your skeles you are screwed. In general you will still get 2 stars provided that you have a decent force through the core but you might not always get 3 if your golems get caught on a random wall or the like. In general making your way into the core isn't too difficult.

That base is called Ringus, and you can just straight up hog it. (Several vids on Google) Use 5 hogs to lure the CC and break the ring of defenses in one place. Then use your "kill squad" as Hulk calls it to break the ring of defenses in another space. Deploy your hogs, they will go center.
That's how I would 3-star it at least! :) You probably could HoLo it, but why add air mines to your list of things to worry about?

i'm not sure if hulk has already covered this as i've only glanced through the thread, but i like to use HoLoWiArch when one of my heroes is upgrading.
now, i'm a TH10, so taking out a TH9 is easily doable with other comps, but what I find so attractive about HoLoWiArch is how reliable AND inexpensive it is.
in the base above, i'd use like 15 hogs to ensure that the south west (before clan castle troops are killed) and north east air defenses (after CC troops are killed) were eliminated. you will pull that CC when you kill the SE air defense.
use a clan castle with 2 witches, 2 wizards, and 3 barbs (if your CC is less than 35, bring your own wizards) to wipe the clan troops and attack from the SE so that skeletons over run the AQ.
from there, it's just a matter of using loons sparingly to clear the outer defenses (2 or 3 loons will clear each corner, as a single archer tower wont be able to take them down before the defenses are cleared).
then drop two mass groups of your remaining balloons to go directly to the center. i'd drop two rages over the two remaining air defenses so that the xbows, teslas, and air d all go down fast.
from there, i'd sprinkle in archers to take down the remaining buildings on the perimeter.
you can drop your heroes at any time -- though i'd probably recommend not engaging the BK (let your loons take care of him).
you can also bring a heal spell or two along for insurance.
with this strat, i've found that i've been able to safely 3 star TH9s with only one or two spells (often times, i don't need all of my loons, either).
the strategy is insanely efficient and my aq is upgrading again... :)
Getting my hogs to lvl 4 right now as a TH8, can't wait to try out a HoGoWi strat! Thinking I'm going to stay away from the HoLo until the tier 6 balloons at TH9. With no witches, what would be a good supplement troop for tanking? I might try to put a pekka in the middle to try and tank for some of the wizards going up the middle. My barb king might work for this tho.
Any other hog based strategies that would work well at TH8? In general, I like to lure the CC. I think at TH8 it's tough to not lure with lack witches.
Side-note: I feel like hulk must be a baller at minesweeper..

I really like this strategy and would like to test it in our next CW.
Anyway, my hogs are still lvl 1 as I never used them until now (have upgraded minions lvl5 for baloonion strategy and golems lvl 4 for gowipe strategy). Do you think I have any chance to succeed with this strategy using my lvl 1 hogs (with the addition of 6 lvl5 hogs in cc) or should I better give up and stick to my classic strategy ?
I really would like to test it so I know if it's worth upgrading my hogs, but also don't want to fail my raid in our CW because of poor troops.

Hey Hulk, would this strategy work with level 1 hogs? My loons are level 6 Witches are level 1 and Wizards are level 5. I never upgraded my hogs cos I was too busy with heroes :p
not so long, i've started to try this (without spell.. because SF upgrading) and curiously it worked well... being able to take about half storage...
from maxed th8 so 200 camp space, 16 balloons (lvl5), 16 hogs (lvl4) 40archers
sending hogs behind balloons the same way... at putting archer behind in a line so they go get to the storage taking the path def killer make them...
with heroes it works even better...
i can't wait to see when i'll have balloons lvl6 and hogs lvl5 how it will goes.. and also with more camps space
I'm about to try this with lvl 5 loons on a Th9, and I'm wondering if I'm vsing a lvl 10 archer tower that I can deploy right next to, 2 loons should be enough yeah? And a lvl 7 wiz tower can 1v1 a loon if deployed right next to as well? The numbers point to yes for both questions but if anyone has some actual experience with it that'd be great.
EDIT: I just saw the video above and 2 loons is good for lvl 10 archer tower.

Hey Hulk, I was wondering if you could please put up the usual HoLo combinations for common forum bases? This would make it easier for me and many others to find the ideal ratio against each base. Instead of going tediously through the videos and looking for the one with your combination, maybe you could put them up? For example, the amount for: Baconmaker, Tsunami and the WDM. I believe this would help many to get more use out of your brilliant attack strategy.

I tried to do a search on this thread and it didn't work as I hoped. Has anyone tried this with lvl 6 loons, lvl 3 hogs, and 4x lvl 5 heal spell? This last war we participated in had several bases we could have HoLoWiWi'd but no one believes in balloons and I want to show them why they should.
I know lvl 3 hogs (360hp) can survive lvl 3 giant bomb (337.5 dmg to hogs) but was hoping someone had some real experience with this level combination.
