Even if they don't do 360 rotation, a top down approach would still be better when laying out or upgrading sometimes, just to be able to see better

Disagree, the cost-benefit is just not there from a development perspective.
We've all managed to change our base designs without it, so we can do without.
Zooming in/out is sufficient to let me click on any object that is shorter/smaller than the object in front of it.
Not too crazy about rotating the map. Instead, I would like to see where you could select your entire village and move it (more centered, closer to the edge, away from edge, etc.) A few times I have noticed that when I "edit village", sometimes I will place it where the village hits the edge and I want to center the entire village without having to click on everything I already laid down and moving it.

Rotate 90 degree clock wise. This is a 1 time calculation which can be saved into a conversion grid.

If the builder's hut was placed on tile "1" then need to calculate the all tiles occupied "1,2,5,6"
In the new map find the most top left tile "5". And place the builder's hut on that tile.
Sorry, it cannot be that difficult in my oppinion.
Supercell would need to make a model for every side of the building. This isn't worth it.
