Is rushing your Town Hall smart?

Yes, and no. Here is the problem of rushing your town hall. Attacks are much harder, you will/most likely will get owned while trying to defend your base. Now, if you plan on staying on COC for hours and upgrading your defences to match your town hall, good luck. But mostly if you rush to TH 8 you will most likely get crushed. Because you don't get any "elite" defences your defending will smolder. Attacking, trying to get the elixer to upgrade your troops will be a pain because if all the loot changes so, with level 3 barbs your going to be getting very little loot.

But, obviously if you gem you might have a chance. If you pay over the 700$ its will take.

But, the lower town halls (1-7) you can rush from 4 to 5 and upgrage your troops to max your base, I recomend that. But at higher ones its 500k-1mil to upgrade one wall. So up to town hall 7, rush (if you like) after TH7 DO NOT, you will pay the price. Good luck! Keep clashing!

I rushed to TH 8. No problem. I think you shouldn't max TH 7 if you don't want to. But TH 8+, max it.

You have no idea how many noobs have come into my clan with awful bases all because they rushed. If you're short a couple walls, yes you can upgrade it, but if you have defences, a bunch of walls and troops that need upgrading then no. Don't rush. It's common belief that a high level town hall means everything, but it's the experience that matters. Why do you think clans are beginning to have level requirements? My clan immediately kicks out anybody that rushed because they'll pull us down in clan wars. I'd have to say no to rushing.

yes everyone rushes their town hall... First priority is max all collectors and storages and then ONLY level town hall frm there all the way to 10

Edit: don't even bother buying air defenses no one uses air in this game

Well, at town hall 7 and below, you can upgrade a lot of things quickly and cheaply. I'm not saying rush your base at TH 8 thats bad but you can level a TH7 fat if you really try, I had already covers this btw ;)

I'm so-so on the subject but I may rush, but I am used to maxing everything.

I rushed, and I mean really rushed, to TH8 (think I had 1 wizard tower at like level 2, level 5-6 cannons, etc). I couldn't go more then 20 minutes after my shield went down before I would get owned. Eventually I got through it (only have 7 more upgrades for my defensive structures till I'm maxed), so it's certainly possible to dig yourself out of that hole, it just takes forever. But I wouldn't recommend doing it how I did it of course.

I would never do it as I'm a completionist, but as long as premature town hall players have their primary farming troops upgraded [barbs, archers, giants] they can progress just fine.

As long as they don't go all the way to TH10 - then they are screwed. But any up to TH9 can survive just fine.

I semi-rushed to TH 10 and honestly don't see a difference. I pretty much have max TH 8 defenses and some are max for TH 9. I have the third x bow and both infernos. Loot I just moved up to crystal league and I love the loot up there. I rarely ever get attacked too.
