I'm not really sure. I want to push into gold just to get some DE for my Barb King and go back to silver. So what kinda base should I have? Please tell me what kind, why, and if possible, a picture of the base design that doesn't get you three starred all the time. Thanks!

To answer your question, farming is probably the best.

this base is sooo good
At TH7, farming is your best bet with TH8s who can decimate your base and take a majority of your loot without suffering from loot penalties. I go over it in my base design thread in my sig.
It's better to farm because people who are pushing will take some trophies from you by attacking your townhall and then you get a free 12- hour shield which then protects you from a possible attack by someone higher then you. It also helps to save resources
