Anyone else frustrated with TH8 defenses?

First, I'm not suggesting Supercell to fix anything...now that that's out the way :D

I'm a TH 8 with nearly maxed defenses. Upgrade to TH9 is underway (thank goodness). I'm in Gold 2 which is the appropriate level for my TH (Once I dont have a shield, I will probably have to drop to silver).

I leave my TH outside for TH snipers, but here is my beef. I have my dark elixir WELL protected, guarded by 3 layer of walls most are level 8 (black skulls). My storage has over 30K and TH8 defenses are NOT adequate to fend off attackers who are TH9s and 10s that are going after my resource. My storage can hold 80K...but I will never even get close because of attacks. I'm trying to save up for the Archer Queen once my TH9 is complete, but it has been a challenge. Once, I was robbed for 4K in 2 attacks in 20 mins. Really??? TH8s just cant hold more than 30k without a TH9 or 10 just ripping through the center to take it. My clan castle is ALWAYS full with strong defenses. It is the most frustrating part of TH8. TH9 is so much more superior with Archer Queen, X-Bows, extra air defenses, extra walls.

I just wrote this to prep anyone trying to farm for dark at TH8, see if anyone has been going through the same troubles, and a little venting :p.

A competent player a TH above will pretty much always be able to rob you with the right set up.

There is a base near the bottom that helps with saving that DE for the transition to TH9! I have been using this guy's bases for some time now and think that it will help you out a bit. Good luck! :)

as odd as this sounds, I would recommend going higher.

Im a th8 currently in crystal 2 - i was sat here a couple of days ago with 30k de and 4m in elixir and didnt get anything other than TH sniped.

the lack of th's to snipe up here makes it almost a dead cert that someone will.... and the DE isnt bad either :)

you're always going to get smashed by th9/10's though - just as you pick on th7s.

such is life.

Sparing DE at TH8 is a bit like trophy pushing. You need to play in sessions, without going offline. That seems like the only way.

Exactly ,i just reached th8 day before and i am squashed like a bug, my de is almost full at 40k, i am farming de atm. my bk is upgrading to 6 , hogs to 3 and am left idle with the de

Ryuken, I think I may go with this layout. I truly have a good layout, but this one seems to be a bit better specifically addressing the short-term problem with protecting my dark with a secondary of gold. I could care less about elixir right now.

Not true, at least in my experience here in Crystal. I've saved up 25K for my level 7 king without worry. You just need to keep your TH exposed and hope for a snipe after every raid - you'll make more than you lose if you look.

if you really need de, go to gold 1 or crystal 3 and you can find bases that you can zap and some with full lvl 4+ dark elixir drills. thats how i saved up 40k for hogs

TC I feel your pain, happens to me all the time.

I also am a nearly maxed TH8 defensively and 9's still crush me for the most part on full raids (royals, 4 spells, etc).

There's literally nothing you can do. I've also spent extensive time in Gold league-Crystal 2 and it seems no matter what league I drop to....there is always a lvl 100+ ready to decimate my base.

I could probably drop down to Silver 3 and some 125 would still get me, lol....


Really, pretty lame having such high lvl's in a low league to pick on lower TH's but it is what it is. TH9 will be better for sure with xbows and several more walls/defenses.

Bottom line is if you have loot you'll be raided regardless. Hard to hoard DE if you keep getting hit, but you should be able to maintain 40K at least through daily raiding for the AQ when you hit 9.
