once you get past the idiocy of some of these comments... you will notice a pattern.
Folks buy the flags to hide their gold, or to prevent maxxing their storage.
problem with this theory is interest rate.
A flag costs 100,000 gold.
selling a flag gains 10,000 gold.
So your essencially losing 90,000 gold for every flag. Just not worth it to me....
A raid on a TH7 with full storages/mines will remove about 200,000 gold (give or take) and give you a 12+ hour shield. a lvl 11 gold mine gives you 3,000 per hour, and TH7 can give you 6 lvl 11 mines. 18,000 an hour total, and JUST a 12 hour shield gives you 216,000 total.
The chances of a farming raid getting ALL 200k of your gold in a raid is slim. They are resource farming, so they wont use big fancy armys or 3 star you. You will MAYBE lose 150,000, but gain a 12hr shield.
So the choice is yours, lose 90,000 per flag, plus whatever the raiders steal.
OR, just leave the gold in there and max upgrade your defenses, and lose what the raiders steal anyway.
You are always a target if you have over 100,000 available to steal. If your storage is lvl 11 at TH7, you can hold 4 million gold. 4 million.... thats a LOT. And chances are you will never max fill your storage unless you foolishly start all your builders on projects at the same time.
I do not buy flags (( except the american one for my country. ;) )) I stagger my builders jobs. I never have a situation where my builders will ALL be busy for 3 days. I will even let a builder sleep for a bit in order to keep the stagger stages of buildings finish times. Because nothing is more frustrating than getting 2million or more gold and not being able to use it for 2 days. Seriously. And when that happens people are tempted to gem finish projects.
I say save the gold, dont bother with flags. your going to get raided no matter what.
but if folks wanna decorate their bases with every flag... more power to them. I mean heck, in a pinch it is 10,000 gold instantly at a later date.
I had 4 mil lying around, so why not? It's pretty damn low anyways.
And the average Joe who stumbles across a base with 4 mil in decorations is sure to think "If this guy can burn 4 million on decorations, he knows what he's doing" or "If he's got 4 mil to burn on decorations, he's gonna 3 star me back for sure".
And they look pretty damn cool too.

Overflowing with gold when I was TH5. I also put it around my base to blur the spawn zone so it's harder to see. Helps waste their time and increases the likelihood they misclick and tap the spawn zone instead.Quote:

At later TH's it isn't really optimal.... 8/9/10 as everything costs so much gold (especially walls) and you just never seem to have enough.
I suppose there are other reasons too (making the base look busy, or purely for the decoration factor)
Either way it's whatever.
One thing that is annoying however is having to deal with all decorations every time you decide to make a new base. That alone might entice people to sell them back. Especially if you change bases often.
Don't listen to this guy OP. He can't even get his "facts" right. A TH7 with full storages can give you 250k each. That's not including full collectors. Without the loot penalty of course :pQuote:

They greatly reduce your plant spawn rate and free gems
People buy them early on to sell them if they are really close to an upgrade so they don't have to do another raid!
Sell them back when you need gold.
I had 3 mil gold and no builder. You would've done the same thing.
I get them all on TH7 because can't spend my gold anymore (walls maxed, full storage)
I sold them all recently because they slow down obstacles spawn rate.
